Scoutbook+ blue card printing for MBC

Hi,

I wanted to report an issue in Scoutbook+. When I try to print a Blue Card for a Scout, I receive an error message that says “Error printing Blue Cards.” The issue has been occurring consistently.

The Scouting America IT folks need at least some degree of specific data to intake an issue, based on other posts in the forums here.

The SUAC will likely be asking:

  1. What are the exact steps you are taking to get to this error message?
  2. Have you tried an incognito/private browsing window and/or manually clearing your browser cache?
  3. Is this just one badge for one scout? All badges for one scout? All badges for all scouts?
  4. Is it just you in your unit who’s having the issue, or is it everybody in your unit who’s tried (and who has tried by registered position, if possible)?
  5. If it’s just one scout or a few scouts, what are the Scouting America Member IDs (no names, please!) for those scouts? Which badges is it happening for?
  6. If it’s happening for all scouts and all badges, can you provide at least one exemplar case (Member ID + merit badge) that IT can look at to start the diagnostics?
  1. I click on the kid’s name, view the badge, then I hit print blue card, check all the boxes. When I do, I hit print blue card, and it says error printing blue cards

  3. Yes, all of the scouts that I am connected to as an MBC are having the same error message
  4. I am an MBC with the council, and I did ask a couple of my friends’ leaders, and they are having the same issue as well

So, looking at some of the similar posts in the forums (e.g. https://discussions.scouting.org/t/print-blue-card-function-not-working/510421/7), it looks like there’s some sort of known issue that’s been brought to the developers’ attention. I didn’t see a fix posted in the Change Logs (https://discussions.scouting.org/c/scoutbook/scoutbook-change-log/16), so I’m guessing that it’s still on the to-do list somewhere.

The current workaround would be to have the scout/scout’s parent, or one of the unit scouters print the blue card from their login at SB+. There’s been mixed success for that, however, so the issue might be wider than has been specifically noted in the posts I found.
