Scoutbook Plus patrols not matching Scoutbook Legacy

I updated my Scouts in new Patrol Names in Scoutbook Plus yesterday and deleted the old Patrols. After waiting overnight, I checked Scoutbook Legacy to make sure it synced. I incorrectly see one youth ID#13883139 in the should-be deleted Raven Patrol, but Raven Patrol should not be in the list at all since it is deleted in Scoutbook Plus. Now this youth is in two patrols - Raven Patrol (wrong) and zGhost Patrol (correct). Another problem is there are two duplicate Narwhal Patrols and Shark without green checkmarks.

I cannot remove “end the membership” in Raven Patrol because Scoubook Legacy boots me to Scoutbook Plus, where I don’t see the Raven Patrol.

A final observation - Scoutbook Legacy shows me a new button to “Approve the Patrol” in the troop, something that I have never seen before.

What I want is to have the youth removed from the defunct Raven Patrol and have the Raven and duplicate Narwhal patrols disappear from Scoutbook Legacy. Can anyone help?

This is what I see in Scoutbook Plus. All these patrols are correct with youth correctly assigned:

This is what I see in Scoutbook Legacy. Raven Patrol, Shark, and Narwhal Patrols with no green checkmark should not be in the list since they are duplicates:

Not sure if this helps but I when I look into individual youths who appear in duplicate patrols, I see multiple memberships created in Scoutbook Legacy:

@ShirleyHou yes that is known - and that is why SB+ has Not been announced for use for this - you can end a patrol membership in Legacy to resolve it.

When you say that SB+ has not been announced for this, what do you mean? Was I supposed to make the new patrols in Scoutbook Legacy and move Scouts there? Do I end the membership in not just the duplicate patrols but also what appears to be the multiples Scouts BSA Troop memberships? I am about to embark on the computer work:

Yes most Troop Functions are still in Legacy other than logs and Calendar. Using Legacy you can just end the extra memberships to clean it up.

Donovan, I really appreciate your help. I’m in the process of updating each Scout manually in SB Legacy. However, I think I just made a mistake and I hope you can tell me how to fix it.

I ended a membership of a Scout in a duplicate patrol in SB Legacy (I did not reassign to a patrol, because she was already in the correct patrol). It warned me that it would remove the Scout from the Troop Roster. I said yes. Now I don’t see her in Scoutbook Legacy. Should I reassign the Scout from the duplicate patrol into the correct patrol?

Donovan, here is a screenshot of what it looks like when I reassign a Scout from a duplicate patrol into the correct troop. After clicking OK, the Scout appears grayed out in the correct patrol because she is not in the troop anymore.

I have 83 Scouts to fix and I thought I was doing right by using the latest SB version.. .:frowning:

What did you do in SB+? go to Roster and Edit Patrols?

In the beginning when I moved the Scouts, I went to SB+, created new Patrols, added the Scouts into the new patrols. Then I went into the old patrols and remove the Scouts. Then I deleted the old Patrols which then had zero Scouts in them.

I admit that during this process I encountered a lot of issues. When I refreshed SB+ it would sometimes show zero Scouts in the roster, or it would not display the newly created patrols that I had just saved. So I made another patrol - BIG mistake as I see now because I ended up creating duplicate patrols.

At the end of 6/28, I had everything looking good in SB+.

Morning of 6/29, I open SB Legacy, and I see the duplicate patrols and youth memberships that I described in my opening post.

In SB+ do you see the scout twice?

Playing around I think you are going to have to use SB+ to clean it up. Edit Patrol and remove the scouts in wrong patrol. If you do it in Legacy SB+ does not catch up immediately.

On Eden - in legacy go to Unit > Roster > your name > Admin > click update

  1. Eden - fixed!
  2. I have two girls missing completely from the SB Legacy Roster - Urte B, ID #141029462 and Emily A. ID #136942537. (UPDATE: they disappeared after I ended their duplicate memberships). Will this get fixed with a nightly sync from MyScoutingOrg roster? I see them in SB+ but when I click Emily’s name, I get this error:

  1. You mentions that i need to do the patrol clean up in SB+, but I don’t see any of the wrong patrols in SB+. Everything looks perfect in SB+, Legacy is where I see all the problems.

For example, I have “Shark Patrol” and “Shark Patrol Dup1” in SB Legacy with the same youth in each. I want to delete “Shark Patrol Dup1” in SB. I don’t see “Shark Patrol Dup1” in SB+ to do the cleanup. So my thought was to end the membership of all the youth in Shark Patrol Dup1 by going into the individual membership screen in SB Legacy.

If you are available for a quick call and screen share, I would be grateful!

I will send you a direct message > look at top right Avatar to find it > it will be a green envelope > it will be a private message channel with select members of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (SUAC)

@ShirleyHou all seems settled in SB+. Missing scouts added back. It seems it takes 24 hours for Legacy and SB+ to match on membership related issues (which is news to us.). Advise on how to resolve for you? Stick with one platform as much as you can. Give it 24 hours to match.

Good morning Donovan. Here is a Monday, June 30th update as of 10:00 AM:

  1. The two missing Scouts have been added back to SB. I see them as unassigned and will put them into a patrol.
  2. It appears that SB+ synced with SB and the test patrol, Manta Ray, with 8 Scouts, synced with SB+. That is great news! Therefore, I will finish populating the rest of the patrols from Clean to the others today.
  3. I will stay away from SB+

Thank you so SO much for your help!

For the benefit of the community, I’m going to describe how Donovan helped me fix my problem:

  1. From SB Legacy, create a new patrol called “Clean”.
  2. Click “Assign Scouts” from Clean Patrol and select the entire troop.
  3. This took all the Scouts out of their patrols that were not syncing properly between SB and SB+ into one, clean “Clean Patrol”. This also deleted all the mysterious duplicate patrols and ended duplicate memberships in each Scout’s profile.
  4. Wait for SB and SB+ to sync.
  5. I also reset my Troop Admin settings in SB to fix connection losses.
  6. Wait 24 hours.
  7. Check SB and SB+.
  8. From SB, assign Scouts into correct patrol from the “Clean Patrol”.

Lessons Learned:

  1. DO NOT use SB+ for any patrol modifications or to create new patrols.
  2. I also learned that my Council Admins (Sam Houston Area Council) lost all privileges to changing SB+. So, stick with SB Legacy.
