Scoutbook Plus unable to print pocket certificates

Scoutbook Plus purchase orders are not able to print pocket certificates. When I click “Print Certificate”, nothing happens. I have enabled popups in my browser.

so we know an ETA? I have crossover this Saturday (5/17) and I would HATE to have to handwrite 30 rank advancements and over 100 adventures for the entire pack. Help! I click on print and nothing happens too.

@MarimeeGrana

All I can say is it will not be fixed before your crossover.

Is there any way to go back to the old Scoutbook and print it? Or could anyone pull this information and send it to me via PDF? This is now a very disruptive defect. Is there anything that can be done?

handwritting each card (150+) is very tedious and quite honestly I do not have the time to do it. What am I suppose to do now? Why couldnt these change be implemented during the summer? and NOT during the height of crossovers and end of year award ceremonies for all Packs and Troops?

@MarimeeGrana

We are volunteers just like you. We do not control the timing of changes, that is all controlled by Scouting America IT.

At this point I would say you have 3 options:

  1. Hand write the cards. This is what my troop does and we often have well over 100 cards, we split the work among multiple leaders.
  2. Tell the members they will get the cards later, after the funtion has been restored.
  3. Tell the members the unit is no longer providing the cards.

With all due respect to the people in charge of Scoutbook, I have to agree with @MarimeeGrana that this is the worst possible time to have made all these changes. This is the busiest time of year for scout advancement all across the country, and major overhauls like this really should be done during the summer. This is surely causing significant disruption for just about every pack (and I assume troop) out there. I am at a bit of a loss as to why this move was made now.

@ChristpherGross

I suggest providing this feedback to your Council staff so they voice their concerns. Only volunteers read the forums and we have no control over timing of changes.

@edavingnon thank you for volunteering, and i understand the timeline and implementation is out of your control.However, as collaborators on this site, I expected a greater level of knowledge or at the very least a “can do attitude” to troubleshoot or find a workaround or solution. Instead I was simply met with “tough” and “start handwriting, we do it all the time” comment. I am a one person team here, with a full time job, and 100 other deliverables, just like many of us running the Packs and Troops. I am dissappointed at your response. Please provide the feedback from your end too, and see if it can be escalated.

What Ed and others are trying to say is that they don’t have contact with the folks who can make that determination. The folks who make the prioritization decisions are removed from the folks who the SUAC volunteers have contact with.

@MarimeeGrana

I have been looking for a workaround and short of the 3 options I provided, none exist. The ability to print pocket certificates in Scoutbook Plus is broken and the path to print pocket certificates in Legacy Scoutbook has been removed.

Please provid a phone number, email, or site in which this feedback can be sent. thank you.

@MarimeeGrana

Feedback needs to go through your Council’s professional staff.

There is no such point of contact for unit level volunteers, and has not been for years. If it’s not something that SUAC volunteers can directly assist with, it has to be routed through your local council professionals, as noted. Who that is for each council varies.

Great! so provide feedback but can’t provide where… this all tracks!

I just got off the phone with Council. They told me to contact Scoutbook! Awesome! A Scout is helpful!

@MarimeeGrana

Every Council knows how to open tickets with contact Scouting America IT and who to escalate issues to. At a minimum the Scout Execs have this contact information. Who they delegate in the Council to handle such issues differs for each Council.

A 'Council Staff" person here, Registrar with the Hoosier Trails Council in southern Indiana. Please know that a couple registrars are reading this post and are just as frustrated. We also wish we had a phone number to call and someone to actually talk to, but I promise you, we don’t. I will be printing off this entire chat and submitting it as a ticket. Ed and the rest of the SUAC are wonderful! They are our lifelines and “call a friend” options here as Council registrars. we’ve been given Scoutbook to service with the same resources you have basically and very little else. We cannot see into a unit’s Scoutbook or override or enter information for you. We only have what can sync over from My.Scouting. Believe me, I wish it were different as I take pride in my job and hate to not be able to service our volunteers in a way they feel is actually helpful. I have been a registrar for almost 13 years and even feel I know SB pretty well as I used it as a unit volunteer. We are all doing the best we can. I will pass the feedback along on this issue.
