Many of my Scouts list Awards that are “Pending”, when I click on one of these to view the detail they have no requirements showing as started. The procedure discussed in the Forums has the user remove any completion dates and check marks then save. With nothing checked how does one remove the Award?
Are you referring to the bubble counts on the To pages under the advancements tab of the roster? There are know issues with those bubble counts. The developers are working on a fix for these issues. Watch the Change Log for an announcement.
That just means the Scout has "started’ the award but not competed it. There is no way to go from Pending back to not started. It is not hurting anything.
I just discovered this error. It’s not hurting anything, technically, but I have around 40 (!) pending awards showing for more than one of my Scouts and it’s distracting to have so many extra things showing up. You said there’s a fix in the works for this error?
@LeighCampbell - are you talking about the image above from the scout page or the bell notification ?

Yeah, I’ve long the same issue for my scout. I understand this stems from back in the day when just clicking on an award to view the requirements in Scoutbook “started” it. There are now a bunch awards, including many cub-only ones, that he can’t even finish in his pending list. Harmless it may be, but it is annoying.
Cub Scout pending award should not still be displayed once the Scout moves to a troop. Can you prove some screen shots where this is happening?
@SageLichtenwalner - is there a date joined scouts bsa in your scout profile? I just checked one of our former cubs and no cub awards in pending
I’m talking about the image. As I said, it’s not harming anything but it is distracting (especially for my new unit advancement chair).
I would argue that it draws focus from Awards that a scout could finish. For Merit Badges, it definitely muddies the waters and make the display useless for helping the scout see what MBs they have partials for.
@JillBarr - you could argue that same thing on the merit badges.. they could be inspired to actually work on them.
The more I deal with this the more I feel that there has to be a better way.
For example, I have a Scout that shows:
The detail shows:
For none of these Awards has he completed a single requirement and in the case of the Conservation Good Turn(CS) can he even earn!
My suggestion is that an award not show as “Pending” until at least one of the requirements has been entered as completed, thus showing that they are actually working on the Award. This would allow someone to view the requirements of an Award, but not trigger that Award showing up as “Pending”.
