Unit information out of date in Scouting App \ Scoutbook Plus

Where can I edit the unit pin information in Scoutbook plus? I am in the Scouting app, and the unit information is out of date. I am the cubmaster for my pack, and I was able to edit the website URL in the app, but our unit pin information is out of date and I can’t seem to edit it. It does not reflect the current version of our unit pin which was updated 6 months ago. Can I edit this information on the SB+ website somewhere? Thanks!

@MarkSabat - the unit pin is my.scouting.org beyond that.. just work in advancements.scouting.org. Where is it showing incorrect in scoutbook plus ?

To update unit pin, log into your My.Scouting account. Select Organization Manager, then click on Unit Pin. Make edits. Make sure to scroll down and click on the Save button. Some changes may take the overnight system sync to show in BeAScout

After the overnight sync, if the pin address is correct, but the pin location is wrong, post back here for a fix.

Hi Doug, our unit pin and location in my scouting are out of sync with the Scouting app / SB+. Should I make a minor edit and see if it syncs?

@MarkSabat - what shows in scoutbook plus ?

Our old pin information from I would guess Aug 2025

@MarkSabat - this is what out unit shows in scoutbook plus

is that what you are talking about… you are not very clear.

There is no pin information in scoutbook plus.

I think you are conflating two different things.. the scouting app which is for parents and scouts and scoutbook plus

Sorry for not being more specific. Here is what our unit pin is on my scouting (and has been since summer 2025):

And this is what is in the Scouting app (which I assume pulls from SB+) under my kiddos unit info (which was the prior unit pin info circa early 2025):

I just changed 3 words in my unit pin’s description in my scouting, so hopefully that kicks off a sync tonight.

I’m the Cubmaster, and I edited the URL in the scouting app (updated to our new URL) and the URL reverted to the old website today.

@MarkSabat- well noted of your issues have to do with scoutbook plus, this is all the scouting app. If is not designed for leader use at all. I think the only thing I could recommend is to clear the app cache and data.

There is an edit button in the Scouting app for the unit website, but the unit description cannot be edited in the app. In SB+ on my desktop, I don’t see anywhere where I can edit the unit info in settings so I assume this info is pulling from my scouting but that information does not appear to sync.

I’m not trying to nitpick! Just trying to help out!

@MarkSabat - as I have stated my recommendation is to use advancements.scouting.org rather than the scouting app.

Thank you Stephen. Our council or national has pushed for the Scouting app to be used by Cub Scouts. I’m just trying to help out! I think having a scouting app for new parents to utilize would be phenomenal. Our Pack has been using sports team apps.

Why do you recommend SB+ in a browser vs the scouting app? More functionality? Our pack is interested in using the Scouting App to help new parents and track advancement.

The Scouting app is only intended for the parent/scout to use, and is not intended to provide unit management functions for the registered scouters. It should (as I think was mentioned before) be pulling information from the relevant advancement databases (i.e. the ones managed through advancements.scouting) and/or unit information from my.scouting. The SUAC may be able to reach out to the Scouting app developers to see if they can identify whether there’s a disconnect there.

The unit management features for scouters are (almost) all now in Scoutbook+ (advancements.scouting). Packs were migrated from classic Scoutbook (scoutbook.scouting) to Scoutbook+ at least a year ago, and troops/crew/ships mostly later last year.

Regarding editing things like the unit pin, it is my.scouting that pushes that data out, so I would make any edits there. Keep in mind that it takes time for the various systems to sync up, so I would give it at least overnight before any change you make at my.scouting appears elsewhere. If there’s a my.scouting issue (e.g. the data entered there isn’t sticking), those issues have to be reported via the council professional staff, since the development team that supports my.scouting only takes bug reports/feature requests from the council professionals.

I realize this isn’t as helpful as we’d all like it to be, but that’s the way national has set things up.

Hi Mark,

I have no experience with the Scouting App.

In changing my unit’s pin address in My.Scouting, I have found doing a hard refresh of the page is required before updating and saving the address change. Without the page refresh, the address will change and stay, but the map pin will change - then revert back after the overnight sync. The result is a meeting address that is correct and a map pin that is wrong.
