When I look at the youth training page, Scouts BSA | Boy Scouts of America
the videos linked in the “Scout rank” section appear to be adult YPT training module videos, not the videos intended for youth. The ones in the Star rank section are correct. How do I find the correct videos for Scout rank youth to watch? Were the wrong ones linked in an update?
@WilliamFrench yeah something seems off - will see if we have contacts on that
@WilliamFrench What Browser? It seems to fail in Firefox but is fine in others
The site indicates chrome and edge as certified browsers
I was using Chrome. But I don’t know why that matters. The videos play, they are just the wrong videos. They are not Scout rank videos geared to fifth graders.
Those are the same videos up for the last 4 years - If you think they are wrong your council has more access to the YPT team than SUAC does. Start a conversation there
Ok. My bad, I guess. I must not have watched these before. They seem awfully mature for 11-year-olds, especially the parts about sexploitation and sexting.
Well it is happening before that age on those issues is the sad part - at least Scouting America is being up front and telling Scouts to open their eyes and Speak up.
I agree it’s terrible that kids that young (or any age) have to deal with these things. I think the Star rank videos are good, age appropriate, and useful. I think a lot of the Scout rank videos will be over the heads of most 10-11 year olds. And that the Sexting and sexploitation parts are expressed in a way that is too mature for that age group. Put all the content in cartoon format like the Star videos, and I think the points could be made more engagingly and less graphically to the Scouts. But that’s just one person‘s opinion. I’m sorry for causing a stir.
no stir - as I looked back I did think the cartoon on older was odd - but did recall it from before. Might be worth asking council if they think it needs a rethink after all
New Youth videos have been implemented to replace the Scouting America videos; the Sinatra videos remain unchanged.
