Adding Bulk Comments to Specific Requirements

As both a MB and a ASM, it would be nice to have the ability to bulk enter comments for specific requirements. For example, backpacking requirement #10 requires 3 backpacking trips before they can earn the requirement. It would be nice to have a bulk entry to add a comment to a specific requirement to document after each of the 3 backpacking trips.

Is this feature available now or could it be added in the future?

Sorry for multiple scouts at one time. Bulk entry comments under a specific requirement for several scouts at one time.

At this time, I need to individually go into each MB and enter a comment.

I see what you mean - hmmmm - the under 1 requirement as opposed to the whole item might be a high bar - let us see

Yeah it’s a pain to have to go into each scout’s MB individually to enter a comment for a specific requirement. It would be nice if the backpacking MB separated each trip into sub requirements like the hiking MB.

Sub Requirements Example:

  • Hiking MB Requirement 4 - There is a sub requirements that can be signed off for each of the 5 hikes.

MB requirements that aren’t separated by sub requirements:

  • Backpacking Requirement 10 - It is a single requirement tracking 3 backpacking trips. I use comments to track progress. We had 16 scouts go on several backpacking trips this weekend. Having to go into each scout’s MB to enter each comment to track their progress was a chore.
  • Cooking Requirement 5d - This is a single requirement tracking 4 separate meals cooked. I also use comments to track progress when we have campouts specifically addressing each cooking technique.

I understand that changing the requirements to add sub requirements is beyond the scope of a change request. Therefore the request is just for a bulk comment entry feature for a specific MB requirement.

There are many other MBs besides backpacking and cooking that also clump several things into a single requirement that I track using comments. Given that there are are several MBs requirements that are like this, it would be nice to have the ability to have a bulk comment feature for a specific MB requirement.

@WalianaDieu - one thing to also note is that the scout if they log into scoutbook plus can add notes themselves. Why do for a scout what they can do for themselves. Beyond that changing how the requirements are written is something that the merit badge program team would have to do or consider.

We do both.

Typically when they work on requirements, they need to track it themselves and and we do encourage that as the primary way.

However, we have over 120 scouts in our combined troop and there are times were we have dozens of scouts working on the same MB because one of our Adult Leaders teach a MB or go through a series requirement for a specific MB. It would make it easier on the Leaders to be able to track MB requirements that do not have sub check offs to track via comments.
