Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I am a scoutmaster for a troop, and I have gotten numerous questions about how my assistant scoutmasters can update advancement records in SB+. They all used to have access in SB Legacy but now in SB+ they no longer have access to update a scouts advancement record. Please advise on how I can give my ASMs back these permissions. I did try to re-apply the permissions through SB Legacy but that had no effect on SB+ which I am not too surprised about but wanted to let you know I gave that a try. I don’t see a similar place in SB+ to edit leader permissions. Hopefully I am just not seeing it in the interface and just need directions on where to go to edit their permissions.
If they have Edit Advancement in Legacy Scoutbook they should be able to edit advancement in Scoutbook Plus. There was a fix released this morning that should fix many of the access errors. Please ask them to try again.
We are having the same problem in our Troop. We have a ASM who is a Troop Admin on https://scoutbook.scouting.org/, but he is unable to update advancement records on https://advancements.scouting.org/. He is getting a “User is not authorized to access this API” when trying to update advancement records.
To elaborate on Ed’s recommendation, Scouting America IT doesn’t publish their timelines/work-plans, and even if the SUAC knew about it, they couldn’t say due to NDAs. Thus, the recommendation to “subscribe to the change logs”. That’s how I get a lot of my data (aside from random walks through the forum discussions at large).
