Unable to add advancements

Good Evening,

I am trying to update my Dens Advancements, but when I go to click on the Quick tap, or any advancement in Scout Legacy. The system takes me to my scoutbook profile section, and only allowing to update one scout. I check with my pack leader, and I have admin access with me being a den leader. Is there something I am missing?

@JoelKoch1 - first thing is that you should not be using scoutbook legacy you should be in advancements.scouting.org. And there is also this:

A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. See Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details.

@JoelKoch1 You are registered as an Assistant Den Leader. If you are supposed to be registered as a Den Leader, please ask one of your pack’s Key 3 (Cubmaster, Committee Chair, or Chartered Org. Rep.) to change your registration at my.Scouting using the Position Manager. You will need to wait overnight for the change to take effect.

I’m having a similar problem but form what I can tell, I have the proper permissions in Scoutbook Legacy and Plus. It’s actually a hit or miss. Some days I can log in and access each Scout from the roster in Plus, other days the scout names and check boxes are not clickable. That being said, I can always enter advancements by going to an individual scout in legacy BUT given the graphical representations I can only get to the adventure page for a scout by clicking on an already awarded/started adventure that shows up as a graphical badge. Unfortunately, as I have a scout who is new, I can’t access his adventures.

Long story short, sometimes I can access my scouts from the roster, other times I can’t. Suggestions?

@Frank_NQueeno_Jr - rights in classicscoutbook are meaningless at this point. The key 3 will need to check your permissions in scoutbook plus.

Beyond that you should NOT be in legacy scoutbook for advancement

Yes, I understand they’re relatively meaningless, I was simply mentioning it for purposes of mirroring the actual issue I was experiencing, that being the strangely intermittent ability to select and access my scouts in Plus which, my point being that I’ve been told and it would appear my permissions are correct, is letting me at times.

The thought here was looking to see if someone has encountered the same kind of intermittent ‘glitch’ so to speak, in order to help figure out what is going on. I was simply giving exposition on every piece of information I had in case someone had a suggestion as opposed to the bare minimum of saying ‘cant update things in scoutbook’ and just getting the standard response of ‘have people check your permission’

@Frank_NQueeno_Jr - what is your registered position in my.scouting.org and what permissions were you given

@Frank_NQueeno_Jr You are properly registered as a den leader, but you are not assigned to a den. That ended 12/1/25. A leader in your pack with the proper permissions will need to edit the den and add you.

Just to be clear, in case you’re referring to where that’s listed in a place I’m not sure where to go to check due to my own lack of knowledge, my profile in my.scouting.org shows a registered position as a Den Leader for my pack. Our roster in Plus has me the same way under the ‘Leader’ type. From what I read and understand, I was given/have/had/was assigned Award/Approve/Edit permission. That being said, I’ve looked and I can’t find the spot (if there is one) to actually see my own permissions. I’ve asked our Cubmaster to go in again and double check it all in the last few hours. I guess I’ll see what that generates too.

I just saw this pop up as I was replying to Stephen and as I was looking everything up I noticed that, thinking it may be that simple and passed the info along. Thank you for confirming that’s the issue and thank you Stephen for trying to help.
