I am an admin and advancement chair. For the last week now I have not been able to edit the calendar, add new events or do any attendance or add service hours/camping nights to the calendar. What is going on? I need to get out new events.
@RobertArnold1- did you notice the banner when you posted ?
as Troop admin, I should have permissions to do these items. So It would be a bug. Scoutbook and scoutbook plus is basically unusable for my Troop currently.
@RobertArnold1- Please read the notice… the roles in scoutbook classic are no longer valid but the key 3 would be able to set you up on the new permissions.
Why would they cancel current permissions with out notification? that is worst idea ever. Then have no support to talk to as they have disabled the support email address? That banner doesn’t say anything about bout removal of current permissions. I would assume that is when assigning new permissions from the way it is written.
@RobertArnold1- how about you READ the pdf and watch the video
@RobertArnold1 for T49 you have Unit Advancement Chair - that position does not give the Calendar rights or Activity Log rights - Key3 can extend those rights if they choose to. In that Unit you Have Edit Advancement, just not approve advancement, once again Key3 can extend that if they wish to.
Why would permissions be changed with out an email even being sent? Why wouldn’t they be carried over? My key 3 doesn’t use scout book at all. Why would you purposely cause more pain for all of us. Oh look at a video that you have to search is not a adequate answer. We are volunteers, we shouldn’t have to search to find answers for problems national causes. It should be easy. Why isn’t there an easy email to send issues to any longer?
Scouting America IT doesn’t monitor these boards directly, nor do they generally announce changes in advance. If you believe this policy should change, your only pathway is to make your case to your council professionals with a request that they pass the concerns and proposed scope of what should be announced (the more specific you can be in your request, the better I suspect). The folks who make the decisions about what to develop and when to schedule it/release are not on these boards and only take feedback from volunteers like us via the council professionals.
As I said the email when I emailed the support email said this was the official support forum. That means they should be. If there is no actual support that would be the reason most of this product is lunched in a way to make it harder for existing users. It seam there is no care about us and only long term goals. They shouldn’t actively be not caring at all about us that give out time currently it BSA.
@RobertArnold1- that email was most likely when scoutbook was a privately owned product and at the transition of ownership. Scouting America has determined that the forums are the vehicle for user support.
Again, all issues to raise via your council professionals to national. Nobody here can move the needle on what happens here, or the degree of (non-)access that users get to the development personnel.
you keep referring to him watching this video and reading a pdf. Where was that supposed to have been? I didn’t see anything pop up as a header or anything that warned of any changes or information about this change coming up.
@JenW- look at the blue box at the top of this thread
