Lost ability to edit calendar events

I have lost the ability to edit calendar events in SB+ for Pack 4420 in council 611.

Yes you are Committee Member, UAC, & Activity Approver/Creator/Remover/Editor in that unit - Not Calendar Editor. Either Key 3 can give you a functional role or the individual permissions to cover that

I used to be Pack Admin. Did that role not carry over?

The SB Admins are Legacy positions only so have no relevance

Correct. It appears that functional roles and registered roles (at least in the Key 3 space) designated in my.scouting carried over. The units effectively have to re-designate all of their scouters for permissions (beyond the defaults) manually either by the Key 3 or Key 3 Delegates. It might make sense from a functional perspective for unit Key 3 to identify someone in the near term to re-apply the permissions that they want applied (based on the abilities/permissions matrix in the PDF in the blue headline banner), and then designate that person as a Key 3 Delegate long enough to do so.

@LatnerG Pack admin was used as an all purpose solution due to Legacy limitations - now with a much more granular system, blindly extending those functions to all admins made no sense - especially as the registered position provide most of the needed permissions (according to the GTA) automatically.

When did this happen? All of a sudden I can only put in calendar events for my den. I’m a pack admin in my unit and Committee Member and UAC as well.

What non-functional national person thought this was a good idea? I swear this whole transition is out of control and making this SO much harder on volunteers.

@JenW I suggest your Key 3 look at these - Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video.

My Key 3 gave me functional positions, but they all list that my registration has expired

@DonovanMcNeil I have the same issue and question as Jen W. I’m a Troop Admin and AC but I can’t edit the calendar. The doc says I should be able to with those roles. I’m contacting the CC and SM but please pass feedback up the chain… ugh.

Same here. At times, our Pack committee members jump in to help out here and there and this includes updates on calendar and we have adult volunteers leading events that we give control to organize events and communications. We can’t help each other out if we are not able to actually help each other. This is not a good move.

That’s not actually what it says. It says those permissions can be granted, but they are not automatic. Roles from classic Scoutbook (including Troop Admin) do not have any applicability under the new permissions structure.

The purpose of the more granular permissions is to allow certain things (like calendar editing) without forcing units to grant other permissions (as when scouters are assigned Unit Admin privileges to allow them access).

Would you please stop changing scoutbook. It worked fine before it was messed with in the past year. Volunteers including myself use this program and do not have the time to manage and learn all of these changes. I was the scoutbook expert that my District called on to teach others how to use scoutbook, now I deny any of those requests because it is so messed up and I no longer feel as though I am an expert with it.

@ChristineHaldeman - it is an ongoing project to migrate from scoutbook classic to scoutbook plus because the code of scoutbook classic is not longer supported. You may want to subscribe or watch the change log

Thanks for the clarification.

Wait… does that mean the UAC cannot be given permission to Approve? But it can be given to a Committee Member?

but I am a Committee Member as UAC… so how does that work?

Er…the “Can Not” is the infinity symbol, I believe. For UAC, Approve appears to have an “a”, which means “Recommended”, and can be assigned with a single click, per the snapshot I included.

Admittedly, it’s a bit odd to me that UAC can’t mark something Awarded, since that seems far more applicable to the UAC than approving advancement, at least to me.

Sorry! I meant “Award”. I should be able to mark items as awarded, as you noted. This is odd.

I could make new events and edit the calendar about a week ago or so but no longer. What happened? Also, how do I add a comment or question to the forum without replying to someone else’s question or comment?

As noted in the blue banner at the top of these groups, the entire permissions to SB+ changed (this past Monday). Please review the linked PDF and video for more information.

I recently posted about this in another thread:
