Calendar RSVP's/Attendance/Credit

I’m trying to manage the workflow and credit attendance.

As I see it:

  1. Create Event and invite troop to RSVP
  2. Hold Event, Take attendance.
  3. Credit attendees with Camping/hiking service hours.

for #3 it appears that it defaults to crediting all invitees not attendees, is there a way to credit just the attendees?

This is a known issue and is in the backlog to fix. We do not know when it will be scheduled.

Thanks @Stephen_Hornak is there a link to the listing of all these knowledge base items? i want to provide others in our Troop with a place to start for questions.

OK, I 've been there because of the banner link for the Getting Started FAQ.

good to know.

The Invitee vs attendance is not as clear cut as it seems is part of this issue. Have a campout, mark attendance, but johnnie only showed up for the Hike not the over night - there are a ton of potential variables.

But it is typically easier to add those that showed up but did not RSVP than remove those that were invited but did not show up.

Mess one way or the other

Anything automated will be 100% accurate but a simple change from all invited to RSVP Yes gets the activity closer to reality in most cases.

The credit allows for individual credit, it’s just inconvenient to have the attendance not be the first basis for giving credit. if we have 24 scouts show up to a hike out of 85 scouts/leaders etc, I have to go through and remove 61 people from credit manually, or readd those 24 manually, whereas if one or two did the hike but not the service project that would be an easier adjustment.

It also makes it so that people are disincentivized from using the attendance function because it doesn’t seem to matter for reporting.

I think the best fix would be to add a button “add attendees” on the credit screen to default to first adding those marked attended, but then it’s still a manual review to verify that they were correctly attending all portions of hike/campout/service. Right now the add attendees button actually adds invitees, not those who are marked attended.

@edavignon is there a list of known issues so I don’t need to come here every time?

@PeterSymonds

Scouting America does not make the backlog or a known issues list public.
