My daughter belongs to a primary troop in the states and second troop overseas. Because of the issues with Scoutbook when a Scout belongs to two troops in different councils, the overseas council recommended that the registration for the second troop in their council be done via paper only and that the primary stateside troop just enter everything in Scoutbook. There have been no issues with this so far, but we are trying to figure out how to enter camping that she has done with the overseas council (she attended two district campouts overseas) since it is not calendared in the stateside troop. Her physical Scoutbook is correctly entered, dated and signed. Right now the stateside troop has listed her as attending a campout she didn’t attend of the same length so the numbers are matching up, but I don’t want to run into problems later since we move frequently, and we don’t know where we will be when she is eventually trying to get her paperwork in order for Eagle in a few years. Also thinking we might run into the same problem for her extra provisional camping week this summer. Thanks!
@SarahGage - the camping logs are not a part of the Eagle process nor Eagle Scout Rank Application. They stateside unit would never be able to enter camping for a unit outside of their own.
Can the overseas troop enter her if she is not on their roster in Scoutbook?
@SarahGage - units can only enter items for those registered in the unit. The scout can make entries themselves which would go for approval by the unit they are registered in.
@SarahGage Is the second council Far East Council?
Your Scout can register in both councils (multiple registration). I recommend using a separate Scoutbook account for each council. Each troop will then be able to enter activity logs for her (camping, service, etc.).
The primary troop in the states would be the one responsible for entering advancements (ranks, merit badges, awards).
@SarahGage Another option could be for the home troop (in the states) to add her stuff to the Activity Logs, but not the calendar. They could add in the notes that it was done with Troop XXX, in Council ABC.
