My son is in multiple units and Scoutbook has started defaulting the display to his Crew page instead of the Troop that is his primary unit. Is there a way to change this?
Although the crew does mark off advancement as it occurs, their focus is the activities, not the advancement. And as a First Class scout, knowing his rank progress within the troop is something we want to keep track of!
There is a toggle in the My Memberships tab of the scout’s Scoutbook page where you can set the troop position to primary. However, it’s not clear based on my experience whether it will “stick”, since there is increasing integration with the official registration database.
Thanks! I had checked the My Memberships page, but didn’t drill down into the individual unit memberships where the toggle is hiding.
That seems to get us at least halfway there. The dashboard is still displaying the percentage for the next crew rank, but when I click on my son it does take me directly to the view related to the troop that is his primary unit. Should I dare to hope that when things sync the dashboard might follow suit? Either way, it’s a big improvement.
The thing that seemed really odd about this is that in myscouting the troop is his primary unit. I assume that’s the official registration database you were referring to, so increasing integration should be keeping this from happening!
Double check that there isn’t more than one set to default.
Ah. My son had the opposite situation. His primary got swapped to the crew by mistake, so his dashboard was constantly flipping to Venturing advancement (well, awards back then, but anyway). I just assumed that the same reversal of primary registration was what had happened here. Glad you were able to get it at least partially resolved.
The primary unit in my.scouting.org only indicates which is the paid membership and which are “multiple”. Primary unit is not used by Scoutbook.
