One use of the assignments is that the commissioner shows on the unit dashboard with contact info.
Mike Matzinger, National Commissioner Service Team Marketing & Communications Chair, recently posted the following announcement in the Commissioner Service Facebook group.
January 17 at 4:18 PM
Commissioner Tools has been undergoing significant changes to accommodate the new Future of Unit Service since the early notice at NAM in May 2024. The forecast was to complete all software changes, including testing, by the end of December. Due to the complexity of the changes required, the updates will be released by late February. Additionally, to enable the transition from Unit Assessments to Unit Connections, no unit contacts will be able to be entered until the final release. Please note that this will also mean that the mobile version will be inactive until the final release. We apologize for the inconvenience and request your patience as we complete this important upgrade to Commissioner Tools.
Thanks, @PaulStrasma .
@PaulStrasma besides the excellent posts by Mike on the Commissioner Facebook page, there have been lots of communications this past year to all Council Commissioners that attend the monthly Commissioner confab meetings. Besides those meetings, Council Commissioners also have Territory meetings in which these changes were discussed extensively. It is the hope that the Council Commissioners are relaying this information either directly through local Commissioner meetings or through District Commissioners in their meetings.
If you are not receiving these communications from your Council Commissioner, Iād encourage you to reach out and ensure that your Council Commissioner or a representative is attending these very important informational meetings throughout the year and then bringing the information back locally. I say this, because there is a plethora of other important information discussed at these meetings that needs to be shared through all the Commissioner Corps in every Council to help in our service to units.
Zach, by the mere fact that this thread exists should indicate that the intended audience may not be performing that relay action desired and it should probably be opened up to a larger audience.
