My son is working on his Eagle and now Merit badges, which he had completed and marked by the Unit Leader is missing from his account. How do I know if his account has been tampered with or is something wrong with Scoutbook or Scoutbook Plus for it not to be shown.
Can someone help me with this and how to correct his account. Due to issues in the current Troop, we want to go Lone scout and finish his Eagle and I want his records to be upto date.
@ElizabethMathew Which merit badges do you think are missing?
@ElizabethMathew - beyond the records, it is critical at this point that if you go the Lone Scout route scoutbook DOES NOT support lone scout advancement. Additionally, your council may or may not support the lone scout program.
His Eagle required Merit badges which were completed are missing. The revious Troop did a very bad job of adding completed Merit badges, the new Troop added it in but now its not showing up at all. My son is working on his Eagle project and this Troop is also treating him badly and now completed Merit badges entered in are missing.
We are tired of moving units when Council doesnt do anything with the Units which are clearly having issues and treating scouts badly. I just want my son to complete Scouting and not quit.
@ElizabethMathew- where are you looking at his record? Are you on advancements.scouting.org which is where scouts BSA records were moved to. Did you check with your council to see if they support lone scouts as council would be in charge of advancement if they do. And if they do then using advancements.scouting.org will no longer be an option.
Yes its not showing in advancements.scouting.org ; that is why I want to know if it was tampered with. How will we know?
@ElizabethMathew- perhapsa screen shot of what you are seeing will help in getting to the merit badges.
He has 36 Merit Badges currently with 10 Eagle required.
Traffic safety, Cit in the world, Cit in the nation, Basketry,Personal Mangement,Canoeing,Indian Lore,Communications,Salesmanship, Painting and Mammal Study are missing - these were all entered and we have the patch and Pocket certificates as well as records for it.
@ElizabethMathew I would say if you have the pocket certificates - unit should just enter them for you. If unit chooses not to help walk into council with them so they can enter them.
If the unit was so bad at entering the old data they probably knew how to get around it also to still buy the MBs
@ElizabethMathew
Your Scout only has 25 approved MBs recorded. Fly Fishing is Counselor Approved but not leader approved so it won’t appear to the Council when they look at his record.
The other MBs have not been entered into Scoutbook. If you have signed Blue Cards for the others I would use these as they are the proof of completion. The MBCs should also have their section of the Blue Cards if your son can’t find his.
The previous Unit was very bad in updating records.I think I need to go to Council to get the others updated.
The other merit badges were updated in the current troop in Feb/ March ; I did see it at that time . But now they have magically disappeared. Yes we do have the Pocket certificates and Blue cards with us as Proof.
@ElizabethMathew- do note that once your son is a lone scout scoutbook will not be functional for tracking his further advancement.
@ElizabethMathew
I do see requirements completed for more MBs. Try clicking View All instead of In Progress. You may be able to find the completed requirements for these missing MBs.
When I did View all, the incompleted Merit badges aren’t the ones I mentioned in a previous comment.This was from Troopwehost which was added into Scoutbook by the Unit leader in new troop .
Thank you to you and all the others who helped me with this. My son and I went to Council and got the Merit Badges entered in. In Council, we were told that as long as we had the blue cards, Pocket certificates and patches it is good.
