Please help me figure out why a Den Chief is not showing up in the Scoutbook Plus Roster even after getting approved by the Troop for the position. The steps followed are listed here: Adding a Den Chief to a Pack - Scoutbook Knowledge Base
The Youth in question is BSA ID 136336347.
Pack 99 initiated a Den Chief from Scoutbook Plus Roster > Add Den Chief
However, when I go back to Pack 99 Scoutbook Plus Roster, the youth does not appear in the list. I expect to see the youth as “Unassigned” den. I’ve waited several days and even re-initiated the process to see if that would make her pop up. Still no luck.
Now on the Troop Scoutbook Plus Roster, the youth shows as having a Den Chief position (unassigned):
@ShirleyHou first guess is cause the DC is not assigned to a den - does the pack see them in SB+ as an unassigned DC? You have to turn on the Den Chief Filter. Easier way may just be Edit Den and Assign Den Chief there
Good hypothesis, but there are no filters on the Scoutbook Plus Roster. I see other Den Chiefs that are already assigned to a Den. I don’t see any Scouts, Cub or the new den chief, in “Unassigned.” To your question, the pack does NOT see the new Den Chief in SB+ at all even after the approval confirmation.
Great question. In Scoutbook Classic, the Den Chief does not appear in the Roster either. What I expected to see is the Den Chief listed as a new “unassigned” after the last AOL den in the list if the system is working properly.
Hrm…how long ago was the Den Chief position approved by the troop? Based on the email in the first post, it just happened earlier today. It might take an overnight sync for the DC to appear for the troop pack?
The first approval was around 12/19, but I didn’t see anything happen so I just initiated the processes again today 1/6/2025. I wonder if the renewal process at 1/1/2025 messed things up. Fingers crossed that I’ll see a fix tomorrow.
I also see she’s a member of two troops that have different expiration dates on the memberships. That’s not supposed to happen. I’m not sure if that’s related to the den chief issue, though. Either way, if that doesn’t clear up in a few days, you’ll want to ask your council to fix it or open a national member care ticket to get it fixed. Otherwise, it could cause problems with the next renewal.
1/7/2025 Update: there is no improvement after an overnight sync. New Den Chief does not appear in the pack roster either in SB Classic or SB Plus.
I have a ticket into National about the issue. I also have a separate ticket into National to make the two troop expiration dates of the Den Chief the same (I don’t think this is related to the roster problem, but I thought I would take care of multiple problems at once).
This one is a real stumper. The Den Chief can maintain her records manually on paper, but since the Pack has successfully accepted Den Chiefs in SB in the past, I really want to figure out why this one is not working.
The Den Chief leadership position was initiated from Scoutbook Plus. I started from the Scoutbook Plus roster > Add Individual/Add Den Chief. Searched for the youth by BSA Number and DOB.
