Dens Disappeared - Trying to figure out how they were deleted

We just had a couple Dens disappear and I was wondering if there were audit logs available to us that would show if someone accidentally deleted them. I’ve looks though all the logs and reports, but they all seem more related to normal functions, not anything being done to the Pack or dens themselves.

Thanks.

@MatthewPayton- have you reset the filter in the roster in scoutbook plus

I had the same issue, i recreated the den and it disappeared. but I quickly also found that resetting the filter, and resetting it up fixed the issue and the disappeared den returned.

@MatthewPayton- here

I did reset the filters, as well as logged in from an incognito browser session. Another leader went in and recreated the two Dens. In addition, prior to them being recreated, all the scouts that would have been in those Dens showed as unassigned, so I think it’s safe to say they were in fact deleted, not hidden.

The old audit logs (in classic SB) only tracked some of what happened in terms of administrative management. For example, you could see when a scout’s position in a patrol was ended. However, it only shows “Unknown” for the name of the person who executed the task for scouts that were reassigned in patrols for my troop. So, you could potentially track when but not who.

Thanks for the tip.

I see a bunch of “Position ended” entries for the scouts and leaders in the 2 dens, all dated yesterday. But as you said there isn’t much else. I also see the same repeated today along with “Position Started”, which I’m guessing corresponds to the dens being recreated, and scouts added back.

Do you think the actual info is available to anyone with higher access than myself ? A dev or other admins ?
I’d really just like to know, so I can let folks know they need to be careful.

Thanks for the info.

All good questions, and maybe something that SUAC volunteers can answer (at least in terms of whether the “who” is logged at all). I’m just a unit ASM who helps out around here with the things I have done/seen on the boards/can test on my own. :^)

I guess I can reach out to Council, and see if they can find out, or maybe someone will see it here and know. I have to believe this is logged someplace.

BTW, the same info is available in Scoutbook Plus - Audit Log report, scoped to Other (profile, etc.).

Thanks again. At least I know they were in fact deleted. And maybe somebody will admit it :slight_smile:
It didn’t do any damage, so no harm.

@MatthewPayton- council would not know as that is unit management and I do not think they have any view into that.

What is the member number of one of the scouts whose membership was ended?

@jacobfetzer 140375404 is one.

To clarify, the Action entry in the Audit log is “Position Ended” and all scouts were still in the Pack, just showing as Unassigned for the two dens (Tigers and Bears).

Thanks.

That scout is currently in Bear Den 7. It looks like an adult leader with the initials BC ended their previous memberships around Feb 19 or 20.

Thank you @jacobfetzer. I’ll be sure to let our leaders know to take their time and be a bit more careful in the future.

I have found that editing a sub-unit (Pack Den or Troop Patrol), as in removing a scout to put them in another, results in the entire sub-unit being deleted. This feels like a bug that needs to be addressed ASAP.

@RachelAbajian Aee you saying that removing a single scout (and leaving others) results in the subunit disappearing?

@RachelAbajian- i just removed a scout from a patrol and the patrol is still there along with the remaining members. The removed scout now shows as unassigned.

@jacobfetzer yes, that has been my experience.
