Error when adding a parent connection to a scout: subUnitType and subUnitId are required

Good morning, we are trying to add a new parent to their scout in SB+. We can find the parent through the connection search feature but when we try to add them we get the following error:

Error subUnitType and subUnitId are required

The scout is listed as part of a tiger den. What am I missing to get this parent connected to their child?
