Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I had a previous post about getting errors when trying to update leadership positions. I had a different leader update the positions and he was able to do it. I still get the error when I try. Can comeone take a look at my account to see what went wrong?
Today, how permissions work changed significantly. You probably want to take a look at these posts to get a better sense of how that impacts what you can do given your registered position and functional role(s).
What’s your registered position in the unit, and do you have any functional roles also assigned? I saw one report of a DL who couldn’t do stuff that was on the supposedly default list, but it’s not clear if that’s a one-off or if there are other areas where the permissions-by-registered-position are not working. The more specific data you can provide, the more helpful it will be for the SUAC to report to the devs for investigation.
ETA: Also, are we talking about a different scout, or the same scout as the original thread? If different scout(s), please also include their Scouting America Member IDs (no names, please!).
Looking at thePermissions Manager, I am the Unit Advancement Chair. I had the Scoutmaster assign the scouts to Patrol Leader. There was a different scout that had to be assigned to Assistant Patrol Leader and I was getting the error.
I’m not sure how to change the permission to Edit, but I was able to do assign leadership positions for SPL and ASPL. Then all of a sudden, it stopped working. Why was I able to assign leadership positions before and now I can’t. Can someone reset my account or something?
There was a fundamental change to how permissions work in the last 24 hours. One of your unit Key 3 can make the changes to permissions, as described in the documents linked from Donovan’s posts above. The SUAC volunteers can’t alter unit-level permissions.
