How do we grant scouts permission to receive and send emails?

Then we are in a transition period between Legacy and SB+ on some email issues.
Once they create an account will they automatically be granted email access once the email issues are resolved? Is there an ETA?
Their email would be applied to them in SB+ - there is an issue with the email going to Legacy SB (BUT as that is being retired it gets blurry.)
Once a scout has an email, they would automatically get calendar reminders when invited to events. Once the New SB+ Messaging system is live the same will be true.
is there a work around to get scouts on SB email - we have new Patrol Leaders and wanted them to receive and send emails. Suggestions?
@StevenLobasso After creating their username (login) at my.Scouting, have Scouts log in to Scoutbook (legacy) at least once in order for them to receive e-mails.
