Guide to Adding & Connecting a Second Parent

We have a few families with only one parent connected to their child in Advancements. Today someone reached out and asked how to add their spouse to their son’s profile. I realized I don’t know how to do that because both my wife and I are registered leaders and connected ourselves to our kids years ago, probably with the old Scoutbook system.

Is there a easy to follow, step-by-step guide with screenshots showing parents how to add a second parent I can share with this family?

Thanks,
Ryan

The parent can log in to Scoutbook Plus, select the Scout then click the + on Relationships and search for the other parent. The second parent will already need a my.scouting.org account in order to be found.

@RyanHendrickson here is something I wrote up in forums

Okay, the steps I took:
New Parent:

  1. Create an account at https://my.scouting.org/

Current Parent:

  1. Navigate to Scoutbook Plus at: https://advancements.scouting.org/
  2. Select ‘Profile’ on the Navigation Bar on the left.
  3. Select child from the “Parents / Guardians For” list.
  4. Under “Relationships” on the left, select the Plus icon, opening the “Parent/Guardian Invitation” pop-up box.
  5. Select the middle tab “Search Scouting ID“, Enter: First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, and Zip Code.
  6. Select the matching record from the below drop down.
  7. Select relationship.
  8. Click Save.

I think this does it.

@RyanHendrickson

That looks correct to me.
