Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
We have a scout on our roster who we’ve had some challenges getting registered with our council so the den leader created a Scoutbook account to be able to enter and track advancements instead of having to track it all manually. We finally have him registered with council and his new profile has shown up. Is it possible to merge these two accounts so we can get all of his advancement status moved to his new, official profile?
Old userID: 12143566, no BSA member ID
New userID: 12233872, BSA member ID: 137528555
The “first name” is different for these two profiles as this young man goes by a nickname, that I have already entered into the new profile as well.
I have merged the accounts. You will need to go back into his profile in Scoutbook and set the nickname field.
Situations like this is why it is critical to use the Scout’s legal name when creating a Scoutbook account before the registration is processed. Had the names matched, the system would have found the Scoutbook account and not created a new one.
Thanks @edavignon . I will make sure to pass that suggestion on to our den leaders and my successor as advancement chair/Scoutbook coordinator guy. Council told us to NOT create new profile at all and to wait on them. But, we’ve been trying to get him registered with a paper app since beginning of Sept and he finally showed up today. The den leader got frustrated and created an account.
We will work to improve going forward. Thank you so much for the help.
The system should be able to find Scouts as long as the name on the application and date of birth match what is entered to Scoutbook prior to the Scout being registered.
@JonathanKing1 If Scouts (or adults) go by a nickname, I would recommend using the nickname field in Scoutbook, and put their real first name in the first name field.
