i received a rather large file from a Summer Camp that was in some version of Black-pug software .CSV format. I fully understand it has to be a .txt file that is pipe delimited for input into IA and that it has to be less than 500 records in size,
– I parsed everything down five individual files of no more than about 400 records each.
– I did a find/replace to change the commas to “|”
I still get the error “Advancement import file must be a pipe-delimited text file.
Import file must be no more than 500 records.”
This should be a simple formatting issue, but apparently Scouting America" wants to retain that as proprietary information and only provide to vendors of related scouting software.
Can anyone help? I simply need a 1-2 record file that works… I can figure it out from there.
@DonaldHume the Blackpug import goes through Legacy Scoutbook using the Feature Extension for Scoutbook for Firefox or Chrome. You go to unit and click Import Merit Badge Advancements I believe
My understanding was that the capability for using the Feature Extension through the legacy scoutbook in Chrome was no longer recommended… isn’t that what the warning at the top of the screen referring to when I go into legacy Scoutbook?
No I think you are seeing one for a rogue extension that came out - like Scoutbook Manager or something. The Feature Extension that has been out for a long time is good
thanks… I will give it a try. I was just a bit apprehensive about trying something that would add 2027 incorrect records that I would then have to delete one-by-one via 10,000 mind-numbing clicks…
@DonaldHume just use the original file from your camp I suggest - not one you even touched or opened
