Import rank requirements from SB Plus Import File feature

Hi @DonovanMcNeil is there a way to bulk import rank requirements using scoutbook plus import file function?

I tried but it keeps failing with error invalid advancement type when I used this info

then I put quotes around the advancement then it gives me error saying that the file should be pipe delimited, which it is.

can you please guide / advise if there is a way to upload these OR do we have to do it manually ?

I tried searching forum but didn’t get anything which helps.

Use Quick Entry in legacy Scoutbook to enter rank requirements. I use the last day of advancement at summer camp for all requirements.

@HassanAli- the import file option is there for units that use third party tracking like troop/packmaster.

If you are talking about the 3rd party upload feature - that format the 3rd party providers know and their exports put it in the correct format.

thank you @DonovanMcNeil @Stephen_Hornak @edavignon for your responses. we had the summer camp export from their black pug software and i was able to import the merit badges from it using the feature assistant chrome extension but it didn’t update the rank requirements which was part of the same csv.

All I need is a working format which I can import the rank requirements.

does anyone of you know if feature assistant extension supports rank requirement import?

if you know anyone was successful in importing the rank requirements then please guide me to them so that I can get the file format and prepare one for my import.

@HassanAli - if you look at the line in the troop menu it says merit badge import. It has not ever imported the rank items which are generally fewer than the merit badge items.

From Camps - Rank Reqs are not imported as they are different from MBs. MBs at camp they are taught by MBCs who have the right to mark things as complete. Camp staff do not have that right for rank items, so scouts should take Rank Reqs to unit leaders for a review and verification.

Even for my large troop - once reviewed - I could use quickentry and do this in about 10-15 minutes

the one we got from summer camp are just partial requirements. I guess i’ll have to use the quick entry for this since there is no import feature which support this.

Partial merit badges are supported.

Only Merit Badges import from summer camp. The suggestion for rank advancement is to use Quick Entry and just use a date from the week of summer camp as the completion date for all. When I was doing this a few years ago, I used the last day that advancement could be earned at camp.
