It appears to me that adding Service Hours to a Scout’s Service Log and crediting the Scout with service hours for advancement are two separate operations. Is that correct, or am I missing something? (I am spoiled from using Troopmaster at my other Troop)

They are not connected for multiple reasons: 1) Scouts BSA service hour rank requirements also have a “tell” or “explain” component (participation alone is not enough to complete the requirement), 2) The service project(s) used for Tenderfoot and Second Class cannot be the same one(s) used for First Class, 3) service projects for rank must be approved by the Scoutmaster, 4) Some service hours used for certain awards cannot double count towards rank requirements, etc.
