Lost ability to edit calendar events

@ChristineHaldeman I used to teach Scoutbook classes at University of Scouting for years. Now it’s become so complicated that I just refer people to these forums of they need assistance with anything.

@Stephen_Hornak this isn’t just a migration, though. This is unnecessarily adding functional positions for every little aspect of Scoutbook that I’m sure nobody actually asked for.

@LatnerG that is the idea for the video we keep up to date at the top of this link - a one press play class. Scoutbook for Troops, Crews and Ships - Scoutbook Knowledge Base

Will help.scoutbook.scouting.org be updated with these changes as well? Or is that being consolidated into this page?

Yes - help is trying to be dug through to deal with things

Actually, there have long (dating back to even before Scouting America owned Scoutbook) been requests for more granular permissions. I believe this was part-and-parcel of getting there. The multiplicity of functional roles is likely the form that “porting” the classic SB roles took in the new system (although that’s guesswork on my part, not solid information), and likely intended to provide a framework on which to hang setting of “default” permissions.

Admittedly, I’m less than thrilled (to put it mildly) with how little notice went out about such a significant change. However, like other volunteers, I only get to vote with my feet if I don’t like it.

@LatnerG- the permission manager functional roles especially the youth one had been asked for many times. I think they are even in the legacy forums.

Okay, good to know. Thank you!

I am also a UAC. So how does not being able to mark off awards affect closing out the PO? That does not make sense that the UAC has no ability to mark these off. The process has become such a turn off to to recruit new volunteers.

A fair question, but not one to which I know the answer. Being a Key 3 Delegate for my unit, everything is open to me. Not being one of the developers (nor having access to them), I don’t have a sandbox to test it in.

I wonder if it’s a typo in the document, though. It seems like it’s worth a Key 3/Delegate trying to assign it to someone in the UAC functional role to see if it takes.

@LatnerG- here is one discussion of it from 9 years ago

And calendar editor without being a unit admin:

The UAC can be given all 4 Advance permissions - (Edit, Approve, Award, and MBC)

I’m a bit busy today and unable to digest all of the chatter around the permissions changes, but I just wanted to let the development team know that neither myself nor our scoutmaster are able to edit calendar events. I don’t know if it’s because they are multi-unit events or some other reason, but I think I have the right priveleges and I tried a new incognito window, but still not having any luck getting events edited.

@ChristopherWelp if they are multi unit events - you would have to be registered leader in all units, and have Edit calendar permissions in all units.
