Merit Badge Counselor has Listing Preference set to Unit with two units listed following example format. The MBC is still shows on search listing in the MB Counselor List feature. The Unit listing was supposed to “hide” such counselors except from those associated from the units identified.
In order to investigate we need the MBC’s Scouting America Member ID (no names)
I believe the Member ID is 13293964. Many thanks for any help you can offer.
@BRETTJAMES- how is the visibility set when they log into scoutbook? That can override any council upload settings
Stephen,
When a MBC is setup in our council, their Listing Preference is set to Council List (don’t ask me where that is set). I’m listed as a Council Admin, but did not see where that can be set.
Individual MBCs can change their Listing Preferences as Brett has done, see photo. I have also confirmed that others that have access to the MB Counselor List and not in the inclusion set of Units, are still able to see Brett.
So, I guess the question is; is that normal? I thought that the search would not return Brett’s information except for those units in the listing preference.
It looks like Brett has it set correctly. Who is seeing them in the MBC list? Is it you as the council admin? Or some unit leaders? Could you provide their MID?
I need to find another tester. I asked our local Chair to check and she was able to view Brett’s record, but later I realized that she has other council level positions. MID is 13794633.
I can tell you I’m not seeing him from outside of the council on the “Worldwide” list. That’s one data point, anyway. :^)
I had someone else check, SM with no other positions in the Council. He does not see Brett when using the MB Counselor search in Scoutbook; as it should be.
Of course he can still add Brett through the Scout connections and Brett also shows on the Council Merit Badge Counselor Listing report under the Roster menu.
Would it be possible for me to plug a request that the Listing Preference for the MB Counselors is added to the Council Merit Badge Counselor Listing report. I think that a number of troops, that are not on Scoutbook, do not see a MBC’s request limiting their availability.
Sorry for raising the alarm here. Feature acts as expected.
Daniel
I doubt Councils would be willing to produce a custom list for every unit. If an MBC only wants to counsel Scouts from one unit, they can simply decline to work with a Scout from another unit if asked.
