I’m the advancement coordinator for our troop, recently a scout started cooking merit badge and somehow between links transitioning between scoutbook legacy and plus I got it started but it looks like it is now in a status of complete. None of the requirements are marked as completed and there isn’t a councilor assigned and the scout now shows as having earned cooking merit badge.
How do I go about removing the merit badge from the scout and starting over or at least removing the completed date and show it as having started the merit badge but not having completed any requirements? I tried following directions to remove, but with the latest scoutbook plus app updates those instructions no longer work. Not clear exactly how best to communicate any data or details but the youth profile in question is: 4051411 and unitId is: 15997
Thanks in advance for your assistance!
@SeanMcNellis - if you hover over where it says counselor approved does it have a name
Yes, it show my name in both spots which is super confusing because I’m not a councilor for cooking merit badge
Requirements do not have to be completed in SB - a Final date can just be entered for the MB - that is what I would assume the MBC did. You are (or where) the MBC of the MB and you approved it as MBC???
Thinking through it - you would need to reassign yourself as MBC. Then
You would uncheck MBC Approved and clear or X out the final date.
OH - let me look into this more for you.
@SeanMcNellis it happened yesterday. Were you doing anything with this MB yesterday?
No, not yesterday - the error or change was done on 4/20 and I’ve been trying to figure out how to roll it back since. When it first went in on 4/20 it immediately showed completed 4/20 and councilor approved on 4/21. Both my wife and I were perplexed at how it said it was approved by me (not a cooking merit badge councilor) and also showed I did it on the next day.
But did you touch the MB at all? or just notice it after it happened?
It sounds like a fix is already in the works for this issue - watch the change logs
Yes, I added the merit badge to the scout and at some point in the workflow I got transitioned to scoutbook plus. All I know is that eventually I was in a spot where the merit badge was marked final.
What I currently know is:
- The scout should have the merit badge at 0% complete
- Currently, the scout is showing 0% completed requirements and simultaneously appears to be 100% completed on 4/6/2026
- I’d like to have this reversed, date completed should be null/none. As far as I can figure out - I’m stuck and this isn’t possible without support. To be clear: the scout has not completed any requirements nor has he earned this merit badge.
I just noticed the comment now about a fix in the works - will this fix enable me to reverse the change on my own or is it possible to have the changed reversed on my behalf?
Thanks again!
Sean
not sure on fix - if it is bad data typically it is just removed - the change log will say
Hi Donovan - quick clarification.
I noticed your SUAC title and I’m not sure whether your prior comment was meant as general guidance, or whether you were able to confirm this as a known issue / something under investigation.
Current state is unchanged: Cooking MB shows completed/final for this Scout, but no requirements are marked complete and no counselor is assigned. (This happened while bouncing between legacy Scoutbook and SB+.) I’m also not seeing an obvious way in SB+ to revert it by clearing the completion date.
If this is something you can check on the backend usin gthe Scout member ID and unitId? If the correct fix is “clear the completed date,” can you tell me exactly where that is supposed to be done now (SB+ vs legacy), or if there’s a known limitation that requires a dev fix or council escalation? I just don’t want to there to be a gap where it’s thought that I no longer have the issue and meanwhile I’m waiting for something that may never happen.
Thanks again for your time and attention!
@SeanMcNellis as stated - this appears to be a known issue - Watch the Scoutbook - Scoutbook Plus Change Log - Scouting Forums for an announcement of the fix.
