Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
We are reorganizing Patrol Assignments.
I’m in Scoutbook+ moving people, but when it’s just not working right.
For example, one scout (BSA ID 140986427) was in “new scout patrol”. I first removed him from that patrol, then put him in the “Ancient Marshmallows” patrol. I came back an hour later, and he’s only in the “new scout” patrol in SB+ and SB.
There’s another scout or two that, after moving patrols, showed up twice in SB. One example is BSA ID 133471174. I moved him from Spillt Milk to Butter Knife Wielding Ducks. Currently in SB+ he shows up in the correct patrol, but he doesn’t appear at all in SB.
Long story short - patrol management in SB+ is brutal. I came back from dinner, and it now looks like I need to re-do about an hours worth of work, and I need to figure out which scouts have disappeared from my SB roster.
A couple of comments from (unpleasant) experience.
The most effective way to rearrange scouts in patrols is still in Classic Scoutbook (scoutbook.scouting) rather than SB+ (advancements.scouting).
Go to the roster for the receiving patrol.
Click the “Reassign Scouts” button at the bottom of the patrol roster.
Select the scouts that are coming into that patrol and click “Invite”. Note that if you have Full Control (Key 3, Key 3 Delegate, Troop Admin), it will just happen, even though it says “Invite”.
Repeat for successive receiving patrols.
I’ll freely admit this is not the most obvious way to do it, but it appears to be the way it was originally intended to work.
Good luck untangling the knots! I’ve been there more times than I’d care to admit.
Thank you for that. I have full control, and honestly, I thought this way went away and SB+ was the only way to go about it.
I’ll still need to figure out which scouts disappeared though.
This still leaves me with a lot of scouts in two patrols. It’s not removing them from the old patrol. For example BSA 134396513 shows up in 2 patrols. I’ve moved him since commenting here.
I just spent the last hour removing duplicate patrol assignments.
Still have 7 that SB+ tells me are in two patrols (but they’re in the correct patrols in SB). I’m going to sleep for the night to see if thinks make sense in the morning.
