My "Youth Protection Training Expiring Soon" but I cannot "ENROLL"

I am due to renew my Youth Protection Training before Nov 28 (57 days from now). I received the warning email. I clicked on the link, went to myscouting.org, logged in, and went to MyTraining. Under Youth Protection heading, it says
“YPT Status: Expires 31-60d”
With the additional helpful information

“Youth Protection TrainingY01
Completed 11 / 28 / 2022
Expires 11 / 28 / 2024”

But the ONLY active options on this entire page are
“Print Certificate”
and
“Retake Course”.

I am expecting a link, menu, button, option or SOMETHING saying,
“Renew my YPT for another year” or maybe just “Renew.” Nope. I search up and down the page, scrolling everywhere, looking for something else, in vain…

So I guess I have to select “Retake Course” and then I find the
“Mandatory- Youth Protection Training” page.
This page reminds me of what I already know,

“Mandatory- Youth Protection Training
Total time: 72 minutes
Last completion: 11/27/2022
Progress • 100%”

This is where I am supposed to select the button “ENROLL” but there is NO ENROLL button. The only active option on this page is

“Unenroll.”

When I select Unenroll I get this very threatening message:

" Unenroll From Learning Plan: All your progress will be deleted:
Cancel / Agree"

This doesn’t look right, so I cancel. There seems to be no other way for me to access “Youth Protection Training” except to delete the record of my previous completion? This does not seem right.

When I go back to the BSA Learn Center page where it gives me a warm, friendly greeting

" Welcome Kenneth Ricci
Continue where you left off
Ready to learn? Keep your knowledge going"

but then right below that I find the message,

“You don’t have any active courses right now.”

How can I get assigned YPT if it’s about to expire,
nobody has assigned it to me, and I cannot enroll?

Please explain to me the path through this labyrinth.

According to the documentation, this is what I am supposed to see:

But this is what I actually see-- there’s no ENROLL button. How do I enroll to RENEW my YPT?

What browser are you using? Have you tried in incognito/private browsing mode to see if it’s a cache issue?

I just tried it on Chrome and it served the four modules with a “retake” button below each. What’s the path you took to get there? I clicked on the YPT link directly from the my.scouting landing page after I logged in.

Thanks for helping me with my question. I did the same thing you did, then I reached the “four modules with Retake button below each.” When I click on “Retake” for the first (or any) module, it gives me this warning:

For Your Information!
If you retake this course, all the courses inside the Learning Plan “Mandatory- Youth Protection Training” will suffer a reset and any progress so far will be lost.
[Cancel] || [Ok, I Agree]**

So, this is not what I expected to see, but I guess I am supposed to ignore the warning, delete the entire record of my taking this training two years ago, and take it again fresh as if it’s my first time? The warning messages serve as a kind of deterrent and are rather confusing, if this is the intent. But… I guess I’ll try it some week when I DON’T have any scouting activities planned… yet before the expiration date.

Unless you have a better idea? I think you are telling me to just go ahead and ignore the warning.

I better understand your question.

What’s happening is that, once you begin re-taking YPT, you have to complete all four modules in a < 60-day period. So, it clears the “complete” status for the module, as I understand it.

You still have credit/currency for the previously-completed YPT through its expiration date, and it remains on your permanent training record even after it has expires. I can see mine back to the mid-2010’s when I started as a DL. It’s just that the first “retake” starts the clock on your 60-day window to complete. I agree the error message is confusing if you don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes.

Thank you, now I understand. The warning message is for people who are in the middle of taking part of YPT (first time, or any time)-- but for people who have completed YPT, and are NOT in the middle of anything, and are required to RENEW (retake) the whole YPT thing-- it’s a rather discouraging message that doesn’t make much sense in that context. So, for my situation, I should ignore the out-of-context warning message, and just plunge ahead with “Retake” for all parts. Thank you for explaining that.
