Need to remove limits on reminder windows

Please remove the limits that won’t let me send reminders more than 1 month out or more than 4 weeks. There are times I need to send a reminder 6 weeks out or 2 months out. Families like to get notifications far in advance to mark thier calendars and some activities need a head count 1 month in advance so we need reminders to go out ahead of time. I used to be able to choose 2 months, 6 weeks, and 19 days for reminders if I wanted to. But now to system is locked to limit the number of weeks and months and there is no good reason for that. Please fix it.

For now, use Send ASAP to send reminders more than 1 month prior to the event.

I am, but I shouldn’t have to set personal calendar reminders to go in and send out reminders b/c you took away a feature for no good reason. Just fix the feature.

This is not a bug. The BSA made a decision to limit reminders because some units were sending out so many that it was causing Scoutbook to be blacklisted.

We have asked the developers to add a story to the backlog to allow units to select reminders X months before the event. The limit of 3 outstanding scheduled reminders will still be present. We cannot speculate on when this might be scheduled for development but I suspect it will not be done in the near future since there is a simple workaround.

I DON"T CARE ABOUT LIMITING TO 3 REMINDERS!!! I literally NEVER complained about 3 reminders. You might want to try reading my request and trying again. And it’s NOT a simple workaround to require volunteers to do more work.

Instead of accusing me of not reading, I suggest you read what I wrote more closely. I started the paragraph saying We have asked the developers to add a story to the backlog to allow units to select reminders X months before the event.

I simply stated the limit of 3 outstanding reminders will remain so that no one reading the post would think we were also going to allow additional outstanding reminders.

Keep in mind, the SUAC are just volunteers who spend MANY more than 1 hour per DAY helping users. We have no control over how the BSA IT prioritizes its work, we can only tell you what we think are realistic expectations. If I ask BSA IT their opinion of the workaround of using Send ASAP, they will tell me it is a simple workaround and that they have more pressing issues that have priority. The BSA does not have an unlimited IT budget. They must work within the constraints they have been given and the deadlines they have for all of the tasks in front of them.

Ask them what is the difference between sending reminders 2months, 6 weeks, and 3 weeks vs 1 month, 3 weeks, and 2 days. The answer is NONE. Same number of reminders, same amount of emails. Probably takes 5 mintes to change the settin for months to a number less than 6 and weeks to a number less than 12. They think their time is so precious but not ours that we can just be expected to log back in frequently to manually send reminders?
