I am the advancement chair. I have spoken to council, they referred me here. I have a Scout who just met with his Eagle advisor. It seems the dates on some of his blue cards are not matching what the Eagle Application and Scout history and individual advancement report are showing. Like they should show 07/06/22, but are actually showing 01/17/23. I have tried to go into the rank advancement to deselect ranks so that I can update them to no avail. Scout # is 130837537
Please help, his Eagle BoR is next week!
@WynonaHeck well Award and approve lock dates. What you are saying does not add up though. If it is Blue Cards and merit badges, why are you trying to change rank dates.?
To change a MB date > go to MB > unaward and unapprove it > then change the final date > approve and award
The only date in Scoutbook that matters is the Completion date. The other dates are just audit dates when something was entered. What MBs do you believe are wrong?
and them showing a later date than an earlier date does not matter - all they will see is the official date in SB. If it is later, it is not like the scout got anything early
It wonât let me do that, because 3 of the 4 merit badges are tied to a rank advancement. I was told to undo the rank to âunlockâ it, and then I would be able to change it. Itâs not letting me, it keeps saying the scout has already been awarded the next rank. I tried unlocking the ranks from Life then Star, etc. but again, when I got to Star, it said that the scout already earned Life and I couldnât undo Star. And to make matters more complicated, he was awarded these merit badges while he was a camp counselor at Goshen. He didnât have these badges when he taught them as a camp counselor over the summer.
Exactly, if you want to change the dates, you must undo Life completion & approval then Star completion & approval.
@edavignon Tried that, didnât let me.
But as the MB dates in SB are early than the earned dates it will not effect the scout - if the dates where 6 months before they were really earned that would be an issue.
@WynonaHeck if you want I can set up a screenshare to take a look
Or council can go in and easily change the dates
Whatâs probably happening is that all of the individual rank requirements are marked off, and they are ârolling upâ to keep the overall rank as completed and approved.
Starting at Life rank, temporarily remove one of the requirements (I recommend the Scoutmaster conference requirement), then you should be able to remove the Life board of review requirement. Then work your way down to Star and repeat the process.
After Life and Star are unlocked, you should be able to correct the merit badge dates.
@DonovanMcNeil Screenshare? @edavignon Geocaching, Orienteering, Radio, Signs Signals & Codes.
@JenniferOlinger Tried that after I got off the phone with NCAC, who then told me to come here if that didnât work. Then only found the same info. Undo the approve & award and one of the requirements. And you have to undo the BoR for the rank. Did all that for Life, then went to Star, and told me that Life was already awarded, and would not allow me to undo the approve & award for Star.
@WynonaHeck I will send you a direct message > look at top right Avatar to find it > it will be a green envelope > it will be a private message channel with select members of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (SUAC)
@DonovanMcNeil @edavignon @JenniferOlinger Scoutbook is locked for this scout because he already turned 18. Council is the only one who can make any changes. I spoke with his Eagle advisor, and he said to re-run the report and the application and as long as they match, it wonât be an issue.
Exactly the Scoutbook dates are the official dates, as long as they line up with requirements the scout is good to go.
@WynonaHeck - the only thing council needs is the Eagle Scout Rank Application. No other reports are needed. As an Eagle Advisor in my council I am involved in two stages.. the approval of the project and the EBoR. At neither of those do i even look at the dates for anything and the scout ESRA is validated prior to any of that.
