Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
Brand new scout is flagged Opted Out and my den leader is unable to mark him for advancements. What is the purpose of the opt out flag so I can accurately coach the parents to update this so we can advance him .
I assume the confusion is they were opting out of automatic CC renewal not realizing this means they aren’t renewing their membership at all next year??
@LoriWolfert The opt out means that they are opting out of renewing. Look at the Roster in my.Scouting and see if you can opt the Scout back in.
They can go to My Applications → Memberships (at my.Scouting) and delete their credit card if they don’t want to automatically renew (I am not sure if this feature is active yet, or not).
I checked and the option is greyed out for me. I have a Committee Member position that I opted out of and I’m forced to add a credit card to the account to opt back in.
I’ll say this is a poor experience for a brand new family if their ultimate goal was to not auto renew with their CC to be forced to put it back in. Can this be escalated to National before I route it back to the family to correct.
I won’t store my CC info on there either. That shouldn’t be forced until they receive the notice to renew and they can add it or pay an alternative method at that time.
