Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
When I go into my any event in my unit calendar as a leader in the Invitee section it says all scouts and adults (136 total) have “messaging opt-out” next to their name.
I have heard there are some bugs I imagine are being worked out with the new messaging tool in SB+ but how is this affecting calendar automated reminders? I thought this messaging tool was separate from the calendar auto reminders?
Opt is being worked on and implemented to SB+ - what that status is today for those we would have to check - BUT if a user opts out - it is out of all communications
I was just surprised that even I and everyone in our unit opt-out, which I didn’t change so I figured IT turned it off for everyone while they work on it which would affect how calendar auto reminders would be sent during this time frame.
In our pack, I see the same “opt out” across all invitees to an event. I just created an event, invited just myself, and sent an ASAP reminder. I did get the email, even though it shows *Messaging Opt Out next to my name.
Oh thanks for testing the system, I didn’t think of that. Good know know calendar reminders are still working. Not sure what is disabled to show that “messaging opt out” in the calendar invitee list.
If I had to predict it based off of coding errors I’ve made myself, I would bet that a test in the local display code for the state of the Opt-Out flag is reversed, i.e. displays the label when the IF (ISOPTEDOUT) is false. If it were more pervasive, I would suspect some sort of error in whatever routine is being used to set and/or test the flag globally.
Actually, we just tested the same way and no one is getting the reminders. I’m hoping the updates will solve this problem - we have a couple big events coming up and need the reminders.
