SB+ Wish List

First and foremost. We need SSO, I should not have to login again if I’m coming from a previous authenticated system link to another trusted system. Basically if I log into SB Legacy and go to SB+ it should pass my Creds to the linked system, including my.scouting.org and vice versa. MFA one day? I could understand it asking to login again if I wasn’t selecting a direct link from a system I was already logged in. Its not like its different credentials.

This one probably drives me crazy the most. Activity logs on an event. Being able to create them ahead of time would be fanastic. Adding participants should not be painful. Currently an event is created with Invites and RSVP turned on. Post the event or during the event you can mark Invites as attended. Now creating an activity log it should give priority to those who are mark attended, If you have not attended the event I should not have to removed you from an activity log no matter if its camping, hiking, or service. It makes using it undesireable. I would rather just add people as oppose to automatically adding all the invitees who may or may not of attended. I can’t help but wonder how many activites logs were added that didn’t occur in reality because someone forgot to hit a X by a name?

Messaging system, I feel its basically useless unless I can paste screen shots or add attachments, not just links. I get that it takes storage, but its no really needed post the event. Temp Storage Same with reminders. If I’m communicating a campout I might want to post a screen shot marked up with exactly where our camp is at in the desired location.

I appreciate the effort to makes things better but I feel like we are moving more and more over and I’m not positive its a step in the right direction or 2 steps backwards. There is much more I could add but these are the features that are already there today that are just frustrating to use in its current state.

I can’t comment on #1 (SSO)

#2 (Activity Logs) there is an item in the backlog to change how members are added to activity log entries created from calendars. The priority is planned as follows:

  1. If attendance was taken, those attending will be added
  2. If attendance was not taken but RSVP on, those RSVPing yes will be added
  3. If RSVP is off, everyone invited will be added

#3 (Messaging) If there is not an item in the backlog to allow attachments to be added to messages, I will request it be added. As for calendar entries, there are no plans to allow attachments because it would require cloud storage which is extremely expensive for an enterprise customer like Scouting America.

I can assure you #2 doesn’t work like that. it adds all invitees no matter the rsvp or attendance status. Unless I’m performing the wrong workflow.

@JohnHopkins- what was stated is planned backlog for item 2

What I did as scoutmaster, we had those files on a website. Even some of the documents weren’t linked anywhere, just up on the server. We used GoDaddy, but use what ever. Then we linked to it in the calendar. Here is the packing list and here is the map for the camp out. Attachment? No. Workaround that worked? Yes.
