When I got through scoutbook via connections to an individual scout to log their merit badge is comes up with an error and tells me to report the issue here.
If you are working as a Merit Badge Counselor use the My Merit Badge Counseling section in the upper left of your dashboard. If you are trying to update Merit Badges in any other capacity, you must use Scoutbook Plus (https://advancements.scouting.org)

I’m kinda confused. What role are you filling in this context?
As MBC, you can select Edit Merit Badges for MC Counselors in the screenshot, and see what’s complete/not yet complete. I think this has always worked for me in the past as an MBC.
If you’re a unit scouter, you should be checking that information in SB+ now (troops are now in SB+ for almost everything). In that case, the process depends on your permissions and registered position/functional role in the unit.
ETA: Looks like Ed already mentioned this. I guess I failed “close reading” in English class. At least I can go with the excuse that I’m an engineer. :^)

I attended the SVMBC Commissioner Conference and heard about Scoutbook Plus for the first time. I’m trying to understand the transition plan and communication strategy around it. I apologize in advance for all the questions. Maybe I just missed a lot of the communication that you have already provided.
A few questions:
- How is this transition being communicated to volunteers and families?
- How do Scoutbook and Scoutbook Plus interact? Data seems to sync between them, but there’s no clear navigation or prompts connecting the two platforms when I’m working in Scoutbook.
- What’s the timeline for the full migration?
For context: I’ve been in Scouting 13 years (Eagle Scout parent, commissioner for a pack and troop, ASM, and MBC). My troop uses third-party tools, but I work with many scouts who use Scoutbook exclusively and want to make sure that I understand how to find what I need to effectively keep working as a MBC.

Updates are in the Scoutbook - Scoutbook Plus Change Log - Scouting Forums. There are not other announcements.
Scoutbook and Scoutbook Plus share the database. All advancement functions except those for Merit Badge Counselors are in Scoutbook Plus. MBCs need to use Legacy Scoutbook and the My Merit Badge Counseling section on their My Dashboard page.
Scouting America IT does not publish timelines.
