As a Troop leader, when I view a Scout’s profile and click on “Scout’s Merit Badges” and then click on an open merit badge, it displays an error if the merit badge is also one for which I am assigned as a merit badge counselor:
“Whoops! We encountered an error trying to process your request.
If it’s listed in ScoutBook it should either work or redirect to ScoutBook Plus, not just display a random error message. This is a bug, not a feature.
The behavior is different based on whether or not I am a counselor for the badge I click on. If I’m not, it displays options to adjust the assigned counselor and links for editing completion either for counselors or unit leaders.
Since you are both the leader and MBC, your workaround is to use Scoutbook Plus (https://advancements.scouting.org) to approve the MB reqs. You will not see a Counselor Approve button but you will see Leader Approved.
