Scoutbook Plus Messaging - hyperlinks don't work, bugs with copy/paste

Background: I compose our weekly troop newsletter in a Google Doc where I add extensive hyperlinks (URLs) in the body text. I just switched to the Scoutbook Plus Messaging feature since messaging in Legacy is no longer available.

When I copy/paste the content into the Messaging box, I experience several bugs:

  1. If I copy/paste into a blank body, the screen freezes, goes to an error page and asks me to clear my cache. The workaround is to first type something into the body, e.g., “ddsdfadfd”, then paste my message, then delete the gibberish.

  2. Second image shows a snippet of content that I pasted into the body. All hyperlinks worked in Google Docs. Deceptively, after pasting the content into Scoutbook Plus, the URLs appear to be good - I get the “hand” icon when I hover. When I select a link, the paper clip is “on”.

  3. However, after sending the message, the recipient receives an email that has no active hyperlinks. the email looks like there are hyperlinks (blue underlined text), but the user cannot click and go to the right address.

  4. The only workaround I have figured out is to painstakingly highlight each link in the Message box, click the paper clip (even though the paper clip is “on”) to uncheck, then click the paper clip again to add the URL. I have to do this to ever single link in my message. In the snippet below, the green highlight shows where I applied the workaround. The yellow highlight are URLs that don’t work.

  5. Finally, old Scoutbook Legacy was smart enough to turn full addresses automatically into a link, e.g., I didn’t have to write the [url] tags if I wrote a full address like this: https://troop54htx.com/. However, in Scoutbook Plus, the full https:// addresses don’t automatically become links in the final message. They just appear as plain text.

Developers, please make it easier to copy/paste content into the new Messaging box and retain the formatting and links!

This is how it appears in the actual email - the green highlight is a working link because I manually added a link via the paper clip icon. The yellow highlights are non-working links that were copy/pasted from Google Docs.

Replying because I also write in Google Docs first and agree that being able to cut & paste working hyperlinks would be helpful.
Currently, I cut & paste from Google Docs and then tediously go back through to re-link all of my hyperlinks using the Scoutbook Plus system. I also add a link to the original Google Doc with a note “Easier to read Google Doc found here.”

(I like using Docs because I can keep a folder with all of my emails to refer to later.)

Both are known reported issues

Scouting America IT does not release schedules. Watch the Scoutbook - Scoutbook Plus Change Log - Scouting Forums for an announcement of the fix.

Same reason why I love Google Docs! I have over five years worth of weekly newsletters meticulously saved so each new newsletter is a lot faster to produce because so many events repeat themselves.

@ShirleyHou - you may want to leverage the google free website as you can link a document folder as we have on our site.
