I am unable to copy and paste from Google Sheets to SB+. I keep getting a Clear your Cache error. I cleared my cache with no luck. I can copy and paste from Google Sheets to Word then paste to SB+. However, we completely lose all of our formating and hyperlinks. I have quite a few that I use. I tried to remove the hyperlinks and put in html links, but you have to highlight each one then click the hyper link button for each one. Alternately, we lose all italics and bolding from the original sheet, line spaces are added between each line making the email very long. The primary message that I send out is maintained for the year and adjusted each week and sent out for the remainder of the year. Please fix this issue asap as my parent volunteers are struggling with this in a big way or turn the feature back on in the legacy side as it was working well enough.
@AkashSingh - google docs may be a better choice as spreadsheet format has encoding that will conflict with text format
I should have clarified I am using googles word version not the spreadsheets of the document. I use it so i can share the drive with other leaders plus integrate sign up sheets to share for events.
@AkashSingh - the issue is that the hidden formatting conflicts with the formatting in the message body. Pasting into notepad will strip those hidden formatting marks and you can then use the formatting tools in message itself. As far as legacy scoutbook that is being retired so turning that feature back on is not going to be an option.
When we were on Legacy, we had to put in the old code with [/b] and the [url] codes and it did work on Legacy. The sheet that I send out is long at least 5 pages, it outlines the plan for the remainder of the year so parents can plan accordingly. It contains links for sign ups so on. If I were to put into notepad, it would take me hours every week to send it out. I am a volunteer and didn’t ask for this change. All I ask is that we get a solution for this, so I can send this out and spend all of 5 minutes a week on it. To setup the sheet takes time in the beginning to outline all the events for the year or the ones we can see, but once the sheet is set it takes me 5 minutes to send it. The past two weeks I have over 10 hours of time trying to sort out a change that I didn’t ask for and has become way more difficult than it should be.
The #1 request over the years for messaging has been a WYSIWYG editor. Scoutbook Plus provides this. One of the downsides of a WYSIWYG editor is hidden characters produced by the plethora of editors do not always work because there is no standard for which hidden characters should be used for formatting and how they should render.
You may not have asked for this change, but I can assure you, more people did ask for it than asked to keep the status quo.
If they don’t want us to be able to use the older protocols that is fine. But at least allow us to copy and paste and have it adopt the format versus completely erasing the native format. I have several friends that develop sites and my own website. It isn’t that hard to do that. As for the other formatting that’s great, but the bar for the formatting doesn’t stay with where you are in the text, so when I am 4 pages down in my email I have to scroll all the way back up to make a link work, and when I have 20 links in an email this becomes time consuming not to mention going and redoing every line that has bold text or italics. Imagine 5 pages of text scrolling all the way up then down and remembering where you were each time. You can’t select multiple items either to bold. Only one selection at a time. Yes it is that bad and quite frankly that stupid.
Thank you for sharing I will test tomorrow and see if I can make it work. I don’t mind the goofiness in the code and the injtial time to set it up as long as I know what to do and can make it work and only cost me 5 to 10 minutes a week.
@AkashSingh - it seems like you are creating a newsletter which is not the intended use of the message system. You are better off adding it to a unit website.
