Scoutbook shows rank earned without "leader approval"

Scout #141116249 has “marked completed” the Scout rank for himself (at the Rank level and the indiv Requirements level). Scout’s Rank on Patrol screen shows Scout rank as the Current Rank.

However, multiple Scout rank requirements are NOT “leader approved” nor is the overall rank itself “leader approved”.

Is this correct that Scoutbook records a rank as earned, despite not being leader approved? If so, why? It seems leader approval should be necessary for recording the rank as earned.

(I understand the rank is not added to the Needs Purchasing Report until leader approved. However, the IAR also shows the Date of Rank based on the Scout’s input, but has an asterisk noting “leader approval pending”.)

Thanks

@MarjorieMcLean - this how it works…it is the same as the physical handbook.. the scout can mark items completed and if all are completed then it moves to earned. It is then up to the unit to approve the advancement items. This is not a bug.

In addition to what Stephen said, the Scouts BSA History Report has * next to most of the Scout items indicating they are not leader approved. I can’t generate an IAR for this Scout but it is supposed to do the same thing.

Ok, if that’s how scoutbook has been set-up, but even in the physical handbook the “Leader Initial and Date” must be signed by each requirement. Thanks for the speedy reply.

Yes, I noted that at the end of my question, I pulled the scout’s IAR and see the asterisk-so that is clear.

However, the Patrol Screen in SB, shows no asterisk, just that the rank is the “current rank”. Thanks for the speedy reply.

@MarjorieMcLean - correct it will show last earned rank. Again not a bug… and the requirements will set at pending leader approval until such time as they are approved.

While we’re here, is there a known issue being worked with the IAR dropping previously completed Eagle Required Merit Badges down to 0%. This is in the Eagle section of the IAR.

If not known, I’ll start a new thread.

Yes, this is a known bug.

@MarjorieMcLean The Individual Advancement Record (IAR) report should be fixed:
