The Star / Life rank requirement 3 merit badge counts are including both the completed and started merit badges in the “X out of N approved” counts making it appear that the Scout has completed the required number of merit badges in each category when they have not. Requirement 3 itself still correctly shows as started; however, the counts are misleading.
An example is Scout ID 134913660
Scout is currently First Class working toward Star.
The Scout has completed 2 Eagle Required merit badges and 3 Other merit badges. He has started 2 more Eagle Required and 1 more Other merit badge.
Star rank requirement 3 shows:
Eagle Required Merit Badges (4 out of 4 approved)
Other Merit Badges (2 out of 2 approved)
Although the requirement still correctly shows as started, the counts make it appear as if the Scout has completed the required number of merit badges in each category.
Life rank requirement 3 shows:
Eagle Required Merit Badges (4 out of 7 approved)
Other Merit Badges (4 out of 4 approved)
Based on these counts, it appears that both the completed and started merit badges are being included in the count of number approved.
