Permissions error?

All sorts of functionality is missing from ScoutBook Plus now. No button to run advancements, purchase reports. When I go into the roster as Asst. Cubmaster, I now have no permissions to review individual scout advancements. Seemed to work fine this past weekend, even Sunday, now just all seems turned off or a major bug.

@JWagner583- did you notice the blue box above your post

Yes, which was also there over the weekend when it all worked. Roster is not blank.

@JWagner583- did you read the document ??

As ACM - you do not have advancement rights - the key 3 would need to add those rights to your profile.

Yes I did, and I have those rights as added by the Cubmaster. Which allowed me to run advancement over the weekend. It appears something in SB+ has changed though where I can backdoor into the purchase list, generate a PO, unapprove items from the purchase list, but none of the regular options are visible on the Advancement tab.

I also was able, just over 24 hours ago, to enter completed adventures for individual scouts, which is no longer available in the roster tab. I had to edit an individual scout for the cubmaster late Sunday as she was confused in how to do it.

@Stephen_Hornak In Unit audit log it even shows I marked advancement as awarded for a cub 11/10. So I clearly had permissions, but something is wrong in SB+ now.

@JWagner583 I can setup a screenshare to see what you are seeing

@DonovanMcNeil Perfect, I’m good anytime.

@JWagner583 I will send you a direct message > look at top right Avatar to find it > it will be a green envelope > it will be a private message channel with select members of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (SUAC)

I am not able to update anything for my den anymore. I used to be able to see the roster on the left hand side, and it is now gone. The cubmaster has verified my role and I have cleared my cache/history, tried a different browser and even logging in from my ipad and it isn’t working.

@AmyTerriquez- what is your registered position in my.scouting.org ? Additionally, is that leadership position selected in the upper right in advancements.scouting.org ?

Beyond that your unit key 3 should verify your permissions in permission manager

Amy - did your issue get fixed?

I too am unable to update anything for my den. The roster on the left hand side is gone. I have multiple roles. As a Troop Committee Member I can see the “roster” but when I change to Den Admin for the pack, the roster is gone. My profile says I am a DEN ADMIN, current. My cubmaster and council have not been able to help. Can someone assist me? My ID is 141778018.

Scoutbook legacy shows me with these 3 roles but Scoutbook plus only has me with 2 roles. could that be the problem?

@LindseyTenney,

The blue banner at the top of these forums explains the situation:

Your registered position (Committee Member per the screenshot from SB+) does not have a lot in terms of default permissions, as described in detail in the PDF linked in the banner. What is your registered position in my.scouting for the pack? The roles set in classic Scoutbook are meaningless at this point, and your unit Key 3 or Key 3 Delegates need to set your permissions as appropriate (or, if you’re serving as a Den Leader, change your registered position to match).

@AmyTerriquez you are an Assistant Den Leader - and therefor have very few default permissions - your Key3 need to take the step in Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details.

@LindseyTenney you are registered as a Webelos Den Leader - this is a Retired position - it needs to be changed to Den Leader - your Key 3 can do it in my.scouting.org or council can help - that is the first step - then your Key 3 can customize as needed

sorry for my ignorance but what is Key 3?

@LindseyTenney- CubMaster, Committee Chair and Charter Org Rep

Has something changed recently with scoutbook? I was previously able to update achievements as the assistant den leader. The den leader is also having the same issue now. What specifically does the cubmaster need to do because he has already verified my role and I still do not see the roster.

@AmyTerriquez

A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. See Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details.
