Unit Participant - not able to send Message from SB+

I have an over 18 year old Unit Participant in the Troop. In Messaging, they are not listed in the Adult selection list, they are listed in the Youth selection list but are greyed-out with “no guardian with email” next to their name. BSAID 136150555. The scout does have an email associated with their account.

Has anyone been able to reproduce this scenario?

They are registered as a Scout - not as a Unit Participant. It looks like they have not filled out an Adult application.

It is an over 18 scout with an extension in a Troop. SB+ does not list them in either the Youth or Adult list. They are on the official roster in my.scouting.org.

yes on roster as a Scout not an UP - that is a talk to Council thing. UP is a different registration. I will ask why you see it that way (greyed out) which looking at it - other than age - does not make sense

In Legacy SB, both the scout and their parent are selectable in the recipients list. In SB+, no parent, and this is what I see in the Youth section

What do you see if you look at the scout’s profile in SB+? Is there a parent listed underneath the scout’s profile information? Are they correctly identified as “Parent of”?

Yes, the parent is listed as expected in SB+ Relationship. I’m guessing SB+ is confused that a Youth is over 18 years old and in a Troop.

yeah the over 18 is my bet too - Legacy did not care about age of scout - but with SB+s reliance on Memberships - and this scout being 18+ BUT a youth Scout I bet that is the issue. I would get the scout registered correctly no matter what

@JillBarr

Please check with your council. I believe a Scout that has an extension must register after turning 18. This includes taking SYT and possibly have a Criminal Background Check run.
