I am trying to add requirements for my scout in rank advancement for Tenderfoot and I am getting this error.
This is a known issue. Currently Key 3, Key 3 Delegates and Unit Advancement Chairs are the only leaders not getting this error.
The developers are working on both a short term and long term fix.
Watch Scoutbook - Scoutbook Plus Change Log - Scouting Forums for an announcement of a fix.
I’m 1 of 5 Assistant Scoutmasters, and I’m the only 1 having this issue.
I suspect the others were previously made Troop Admins in Legacy Scoutbook.
Hi Have a Longtime SM, who got this error. for reasons I don’t understand has functional as unit training chair. any ideas what I can say to this hothead?
Marian McQuaid
An SM doesn’t need any functional roles. I would have the unit remove them, wait 24 hours and try again.
I believe I will remove it for him. It will take longer for me to explain it to him.
Thanks Ed.
I have the same issue. I became a scoutmaster and unit admin earlier this week and am still having the problem today. Can you help me?
Are you selecting your Scoutmaster position in the upper right corner? You may have a cache issue. I suggest trying an incognito window.
Hi Ed.
Yes, I do see the Scoutmaster position in the upper corner. I’ve also tried clearing cache and using a private browsing window and I still see the same error. Interestingly, when I update requirements for my own son, I am able to do so without encountering this error.
What else might I try to enable me to mark off requirements for the troop?

Can you get me the Scouting America Member ID (no names) of a Scout where you get the error and a screen shot of the error? This will help me report the issue.
Thanks
The developers noticed you had 2 SM positions for the same Troop in Legacy Scoutbook. They have ended one. Please log out, log in and try again. If that doesn’t work, try a new incognito window.
Hi Ed.
It’s working now.
Thank you. I appreciate the personal help you gave me. Have a good weekend.
-Ken
