Venturing youth message other Venturers?

Okay, confirmed this is likely an “over-18” bug.

My son (over 18) can’t see parents or other Scouts (Venturers) in messaging. Another youth (under 18) CAN see everyone in messaging.

What’s the best way to get this fixed? I understand it goes into the list of competing fixes/upgrades, but just want to make sure it’s on there for prioritization.

Thanks for confirming. The SUAC members on this thread (myself included) will take it from here. I do not know when it will be fixed.

@jacobfetzer - As far as fixing this bug, the original bug report was Venturers over 18 can’t message anyone else in the Crew, which affects a portion of Scoutbook.

However, a more serious issue is Venturers over 18 can’t see roster details for Crew members, which is much more serious and needs to be a higher priority fix, as our Crew President can’t check contact info so he can contact members, outside Scoutbook.

Without the ability to see the roster, which would include seeing awards for other crew members, use the messaging functions, nor create events, it makes Scoutbook almost useless for Venturing crew leaders over 18.

I don’t think it is a bug in the eyes of the designers. Even adult leaders / key 3 can’t see the Scout’s contact info. It is designed so that you use Scoutbook for the messaging as it enforces YPT rules in tact. To contact each other, they will have to share their contact info directly.

The key 3 (and others based on permissions), can see parent contact info.

It’s a bug.

Youth can message youth and see contact info. Adults (over 21) can message and see contact info, once connected with appropriate permissions. Venturers between 18 and 20 can’t do either.

By contact info, I’m saying they can’t see anything more than first name and last initial. That’s all.

My daughter, Scribe for Scouts BSA Troop, can only see a Scout’s or Adult’s first and last name. Nothing more. She can message them, but doesn’t have their phone numbers, addresses, or emails.

@DavidBoles The developers have started to look into this. Could you email me (Email Removed) the following info for the Venturer who is experiencing this issue?

UserName (if known)
