Hello. I am looking at our Troop Roster and noticed that one of our scouts (my son) has a yellow triangle next to his name. The only thing I can think of is that he is duly registered in a BSA Troop and Venture Crew. His BSA ID is (hidden cause your last name). When I hover over the triangle it says “not an official roster in my.scouting”. What exactly does that mean?
@PaulJurgens he is not registered under that MID in troop - give me a minute to investigate
That is a different council so he has a different MID for the Troop - he would need 2 Scoutbook Users
I am not sure what a MID is? Membership id? Is that the same as a BSA?
BSA # = MID (Membership ID)
Also, I am not sure what you mean by 2 scout book users. I am just looking at the Troop roster from my Scoutbook account
Well he needs on account with the crew BSA# - then a different account with the Troop BSA#
I am super confused. Are you saying that he should have two different BSA #s? That doesn’t make sense
What you can do as Troop Admin > go to roster > Add Scout BUT make a slight name modification > Tell me the User ID and I can add the BSA # and then sync in all of the advancements > NOTE: all Scout BSA Advancements would need to go into this new account
Different councils have non-overlapping sets of BSA IDs. As a result, someone concurrently registered in more than one council must have a different BSA ID for each council.
It sounds like @DonovanMcNeil is saying your scout’s troop is in one council and crew is in another, thus two IDs. Since Scoutbook accounts can only serve one BSA ID at a time, your scout would need two Scoutbook accounts.
Having non-overlapping batches of BSA IDs is a hold-over from when councils had to avoid assigning multiple people to the same ID (pre-computer). I’ve heard it’s supposed to be getting resolved by a unified BSA ID system at some point in the future, but that day is not today.
Thanks for the clarification. That is exactly the situation - we live on the boundary of two councils. Let me talk to the leader of the venture crew and ask him what he wants to do. There are probably 5 or 6 scouts that would be affected by this so maybe they have been through this before.
I am surprised this wouldn’t have been an issue in the fall when we turned in recharter for the troop and the crew.
When you turned in Troop charter it was the other MID
Can you tell me what both MIDs are?
129872786 Troop @PaulJurgens
Can we make that BSA ID the official MID associated with Troop 12? I don’t want to mess with his BSA advancement
I will send you a direct message > look at top right Avatar to find it > it will be a green dot with a number 1 > it will be a private message channel with select members of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (SUAC)
I have the same problem with my troops and none of them are in any other scouting program.
i have 2 troops though a girl troop that i am committee chair of and boy troop i am the scoutmaster.
@BrianWiggans Can you be more specific? Are you seeing the yellow triangle with specific people? Everyone? Adults? Scouts?
Yellow triangles on all scouts and my asm
@BrianWiggans might be memberships - Lillian has a SB Pack membership that needs to end
