Hello. For quite a while, I’ve been getting notifications to at I’m “opted out of messages”, so this morning I went into my profile, found that I had indeed checked the box to opt out, and un-checked that box with success (verified). However, after getting that verification (and double checking) that I was in fact no longer opted out, I received yet another notification stating, not only that I was “opted out of messages”, but also stating “Warning, another user is using the same e-mail address. If this is unexpected, contact your local council or post to the Using Scoutbook Forum.” I checked this forum, and I saw posts about folks having their email address on their kid’s scouting profile, and I double checked to confirm that wasn’t the case for me. Before I became and adult leader, I do recall setting up and/or receiving a member ID, but I now only have access to my present one - Member ID14430820 - which reflects my registration as den leader (and is the one I use with Scoutbook). Perhaps it’s possible for you to locate my original member ID (which quite likely *did* use that same email address) and merge it with the one stated above. If so, please do so. Thank you in advance, and please reply if there is more information you may need.
@IanSimmons you using a username to log in not clicking log in with Apple? this is fixed.
You really should not even being touching Legacy scoutbook - go directly to advancements.scouting.org
Thank you for the rapid reply. I don’t quite understand what you are saying about my “using a username to log in not clicking log in with Apple?”. Also, I am going to advancements.scouting.org (through scoutbook.scouting.org, and clicking “Edit Profile”), and when I just did a few minutes ago, the box beside “Opt out from unit messages and reminders (may take 24 hours to take effect)” is unchecked, but yet when I then go to My Dashboard on scoutbook.scouting.org, it still says I am “Opted out of Messages” beneath the words “My Account”. I’m confused - please let me know what am I doing wrong. Thanks.
@IanSimmons - did you set up log in with apple ID at some point.. and please stop using scoutbook.scouting.org just go direct to advancements.scouting.org.
I have now deleted the bookmark to scoutbook.scouting.org, and replaced it with one to advancements.scouting.org.
And, yes, I must have done that (set up a login with my Apple ID at some point). Would you please merge that one with the profile/login associated with my member number that I gave in the original post of this thread? Or explain how I can do so?
Was there no way for Scouting America to set up a forwarder to automatically send people from scoutbook.scouting.org to advancements.scouting.org, once the former became “legacy”?
Once legacy Scoutbook is completely retired, scoutbook.scouting.org will go to Scoutbook Plus. As long as some functions still remain in legacy Scoutbook, it can’t be redirected.
