Hi,
Can Someone guide me, as a parent how I can assign the MBC in scoutbook plus?
I was able to do this in legacy, looks like I lost the authority for it in scoutbook plus?

@Soumya_RChikkala - as a parent that is NOT your responsibility. it is the role of unit leadership.
Thats not correct. Lot of times, Unit leadership doesnt use scoutbook and are on other forums. Expecting them to learn new forum and assign councelor’s for 100+kids and monitor is just too much.
Parents are always responsible for their kid and parents should be trusted especially when they have “Full Control” on the scoutbook. Why was this flexibility and trust on parents taken out?
On MB Page- I don’t seem to have an option to assign MBC–it directly goes to search.
I am just surprised-- Who the child interacts and works with- parents should have a say and should be a must- why take away that feature? This feels like a bug.
National has set it up this way intentionally, based on what the SUAC volunteers are saying.
If you believe this should be handled differently, then you will have to make your arguments through your council professional staff. The SUAC volunteers can only advocate for change, but if national has directed something their advocacy doesn’t move the ball. The council professionals may have more success through their avenues.
@Soumya_RChikkala - the assign merit badge counselor is SUPPOSED to go to the search. If you have the name and info for the counselor you enter it there. Once it finds that counselor there is the assign button.
@Soumya_RChikkala - if the unit leadership doesn’t use scoutbook then how do they know if your scout has completed any requirements or merit badges? Are you not creating extra work for these very busy leaders who can not possibly look at scoutbook.

Parents are supposed to be able to assign the merit badge counselor. What are you seeing when you look at your scout’s merit badge. A picture without revealing any personal info would be helpful.
That no longer works becaus ei am not a troop leader
Our troop using troopmaster— because majoirty of merit badge caouncelors etc are outside our troop and mostly use scoutbook-- our troop lets us use scoutbook—we download the blue card and get it signed and uploaded to troop master. Hope that helps.
I cannot even click on “Select Councelor” sicne it says i dont have permission
The developers are aware of the issue and are investigating. Watch Scoutbook - Scoutbook Plus Change Log - Scouting Forums for an announcement of a fix.
The best part is on scoutbook(legacy) on the list of contacts i see the Merit badge councelor and assigned to Merit badge— but on my side of scoutbook plus–i see he is not assigned. and when i ask the merit badge counselor-- he can see he is linked to my son’s merit badge!!! I will try and be patient and hope for it to resolve.

@Soumya_RChikkala your issue - I am rather certain - is you do not have a parent relationship setup for your Scout - I see no Scouts under your account. This is different from parent connections in Legacy SB. As your unit does not use SB, you will need to talk to council registrar and ask them to establish the Relationship for you.
That is Legacy Scoutbook connections - they mean nothing - as I said before this is a talk to council to add relationship.
