Calendar Events: Activities: Reporting ... does it matter?

Hi,

I am seeking clarification regarding recording service hours and attendance in Scoutbook 2.0 (SB2.0). Specifically, I would like to know if creating an activity for service hours, where only two Scouts are invited and attend, counts against the attendance reporting AND does that reporting even matter anymore?

I am wondering because in the past, I was informed that activity and attendance reporting benefits the council and districts. Additionally, it was used for tracking the Journey to Excellence program, which has now been replaced by the Troop Self-Assessment Program. Given these changes, I am keen to understand how the current reporting system works and its implications.

Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Best regards,

Attendance is only based on Calendar events - and that is IF attendance is recording - as far as how Councils use data - you would need to talk to councils. As lot of the metrics I have seen rely less on numbers like that now, I am not sure.

Some of it depends upon your unit. Activity logs are good for tracking service hours for rank advancement, camping and hiking logs for MBs.

My unit uses the activity logs but does not use the SB calendar. We typically do not take attendance except right at the event to make sure we have everyone that is expected prior to departure and that is done the old fashioned way, with a printed roster and pen.
